It is not them as individuals it is them as a unit and if you go back in tome to the George Graham Arsenal team they were not individually the best in their positions but as a unit they were the best. That came about from being drilled day in day out on the training pitch. We are on the other hand player like a bunch of strangers and it is clear to see no work is being done to make us solid. We have to accept our manager has no regard for the defensive side of the game as shown by the amount of goals conceded so far.

We have to accept our manager has no regard for the defensive side of the game as shown by the amount of goals conceded so far. And his lack of a defensive coach on the staff because it would seemingly conflict with the "we attack as a team and defend as a team" ethos.

As vented in the match thread, the thing that frustrated me the most about last night was this constant passing it to and fro across the backline, only to eventually play it to one of the wingbacks, who would then eventually lose possession or the moves would peter out through getting outnumbered. But never did the CBs attempt to carry it forward or play it through the middle, mainly because neither Ball or Amos (seemed under instruction) not to make the runs or find the space to make them available for it. It was clear as absolute daylight that this is why we constantly failed to progress beyond the halfway line. And hubble, the exact Einstein quote is “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.” The words kept coming to my mind too!

It did feel on occasions last night like passing for the point of passing Stan.
Your spot on about players not carrying it to create space and move them about to create opening. It was pointless, aimless and Uncreative passing with no intent. Only person who showed for it was Eze

I just can't fathom why none of our midfielders ever bust a gut to lose their man and create some space to receive a pass. That's the absolute basics which any successful side playing possession type football will do. Just can't get my head round that tbh as it's so blindingly (and frustratingly) obvious to see from the stands. So can only conclude it's because they're being instructed not to do so, as that approach has nothing to do with any lack of necessary technical ability.

From my viewpoint last night it seemed like it was only Chair who was really searching for space when we had possession and the dangers of Wells and Eze had obviously been higlighted to the Trees players as they never gave them an inch last night, any positives came from taking them and beating them which did happen, but not often enough and very rarely in a truly dangerous position. I thought Wells was our best defender last night too.

While I don't think Barbet would have made much difference against the sides we've played recently I would actually like to see him in the back 4 ASAP and possibly in place of Grant Hall.

The basics are not being done and that needs to be addressed ASAP as we cannot carry on shipping goals like we have been doing.

We may not have any say in it with the players we have this season.

We may not have any say in it with the players we have this season. The players should be moulded into the system not the other way round. Coached properly these players can certainly defend better than they have shown so far.
