An equaliser in the last seconds always hurts more then one earlier in the match. Obviously walking out the match everyone was pissed off but that was a decent game to watch
Two evenly matched sides and it’s not sour grapes but think we deserved the win. We look a decent side going forward, when it clicks and that’s a positive it means we’re always in the game. We get in so many good positions we just need take a breath and pick the right ball
Thought we mixed our game up nicely, played when we could and cleared lines when needed, we had nice balance to our play, it was just right for me. We did have five min kamikaze period when we seemed to get caught but we snapped out of that.
Few poor displays from Wells, Cameron and Kane but each kept going. Wells could have had hat trick, if he slots the one on one I would guess we win that game comfortably
Pugh looks likes he’s finding bit of form and influencing game, Amos I think has been terrific, Lumley looked calm assured and comfortable throughout and BOS when he came on was superb
Charlton targeted Eze and resorted in taking it in turns to grab his top to stop play. Thought ref could have handled it better gone to bench and said next man who does it gets a red to stop it. On that note we have had debates about captains influence (personally think captains role is redundant in today’s game) and historical debates said One of Neds issues was he was not vocal but Hall is totally mute in the role and in defence. After third time they hauled Eze down he should have been all over the Ref in his ear saying enough
What was the row between away end and paddock about and it also seemed to go off in A block. Any ideas??
This season will continue to be frustrating as we can see the potential but also see we’re not water tight. Two points dropped but a good days entertainment

Great write up West bang on mate
Progress is being made and at least it's exciting to watch
That is what we all wanted after all mate at the start of the season

Totally agree. It’s bloody frustrating and not easy to get over goals like that.....all the more because we would have been top half. But the fact we are frustrated about not being top half...in fact should be top half, shows progress we’ve made under Warburton. Yes his changes are sometimes difficult to understand but look at last guys we had that help. When I think of them compared to Warburton.....he’s a different league.

If we could sort out defence second half of the season perhaps get a decent CB in and hold on to majority of squad we could be a dark horse next season.

For a large part of the game it had the appearance of an old fashioned mid week cup tie, all end to end and crunching tackles. I was disappointed that they equalised at the death but it was an enjoyable game to watch and we are now only 18 points from safety.

Frightening to think we were evenly matched and they had half a team out through injury.
Good game but there was a blatant penalty on Hugill second half (IMO) and how you score in the 95/96th when there is only 4 mins added time I don't know.

Also, its a minimum amount of time, not exact. Best all round if it followed Rugby and stopped on kicking it out !

Best if there was a stadium clock and a link to referee or a timekeeper. The booing (not condoning it) was because we had reverted to pissing about at the back. It's as if we've picked up a few points lately so let's try it again. We haven't got the players - the defenders aren't good enough and the midfield can't keep the ball. There isn't enough movement in the team to play out either. We look much better when we attack and that doesn't mean hoofing it.

We kept the ball almost all the extra time and only lost it because of a lame shot by Eze.

Booing was because of frustration of how late they scored, nothing to do with passing it in my opinion. As doc says we kept it for all but last few seconds of time added

As doc says we kept it for all but last few seconds of time added I agree, there were a number of occasions in the second half when there was a lot of passing around both sideways and backwards where the crowd starting booing but if you take the time to watch the 90 minutes again on the official site you'll see that a lot of them ended up drawing Charlton on and we were able to get into their penalty area in a few seconds. This is the whole point of possession at the back, it's just that we aren't great at it. Fans will have to get used to it because that is how we are going to play.

Booing was at the ref not the players. It was accompanied with shouts of "stop fucking about at the back" and similar comments from an area encompassing R Block around to LU on several occasions in the second half. The fans either don't understand or don't want to understand what MW, and the club as a whole, is trying to do. Neither of the Addicks goals came as a result of "fucking about with the ball at the back"

I understand it and I wish we could do it. What I also understand is that we're not good enough at it and it puts pressure on the whole team affecting their performance whether or not a goal against is a direct consequence.

But you do understand that it isn't going to change don't you? You would do better at the games biting your lip and still cheering them as it is obvious that it still isn't coming easily to them and the last thing they need is abuse from the fans. If there is any blame to be laid at the players feet for yesterday's draw, I would be inclined to aim it towards the profligate shooting.

I don't boo, never have. I wasn't suggesting you do, and you have mentioned never booing before; it was more to do with obvious frustration that they don't play the way you think they should. I am not completely rose tinted in my view of a game, I said to the mate I went with that Wells was off his game, even after ten minutes, and after the miss he should have been hooked and Chair or BOS brought on and have Hugill on his own up front.

In Y block people were moaning about passing it at the back at teh start of the second half and you could hear the same from other areas. I don't understand it but I guess after a few cock ups it has meant there is a lack of trust in the team. But the problem is, we'll suck the confidence out of the players and why would any player 'want' the ball when you have your own fans ready to pounce on any pass that isn't forward, shot yet defence splitting.
They are on a hiding to nothing sometimes with our fanbase. After the Wells chance, there was FFS WELLS being shouted when we should have broke out into a Nakhi Wells chant. COnfidence from the fans to the players is a big thing.

The fans either don't understand or don't want to understand what MW, and the club as a whole, is trying to do. I understand but anyone with eyes can tell we don't really have the players with the technical ability to pass it around comfortably at the back. We didn't do it against Preston or Birmingham and looked far more confident and, ultimately, solid defensively. I know we didn't do much of it against Charlton and none of their goals came from it but I can see fans frustration when we start doing it. Play to your strengths.

That was the whole point of my thread; they are going to persevere with this style of play no matter what and all we can do is get behind them so that the players don't feel the pressure from the fans adding to their discomfort when it goes wrong. As posted above; when Nahki missed that gift of a goal chance I groaned but as Spongeparr suggested, we should have begun a chorus of his song to stop him dwelling on the moment. No-one ever did their job better when they were being moaned at or criticised.

I think we passed it out loads from back Saturday. The difference is the person collecting in the middle was Amos someone comfortable on the ball, happy to take it in tight situations and he trusts himself. That’s why we felt more comfortable
Also think we are more then able to pass it around at back, as I’ve argued and as we have seen, the problem is not passing it, its making decision of when to pass. You see MW going mental at side when they overplay so he’s clearly not saying pass it at all costs.
Agree with Esox fan base are not ready for the style of play and shit themselves more then the players watching it. Reckon the fans apprehension reaches players on pitch so it’s a vicious circle.
Keep asking but no one answers, how many goals have actually been a result of over passing??

Not many West. As I pointed out against Forest, we booted it long, lost the header and a past or two later, they scored. If we passed it out, maybe we don't concede.
I thought we passed it out well against Charlton and if we scored either of Wells' main chances in the first half, we run away with it.

Keep saying, it's not about how many goals directly conceded it's about the fact the team isn't comfortable playing like it and it affects the whole performance and confidence drops. Great if you can do it, awful if you can't. No coincidence we had a couple of decent performances when we got it to the creative players a bit quicker and look at the difference BOS made.

But your opinion is they're not comfortable, mine is they are Rangel came from team, Swansea, who are known for passing and retaining ball, Hall came through spurs academy so will have been brought up playing passing football same with Kane from Chelsea, Barbet came from Brentford another team who play keep ball and he was there ball playing CB. Lumley is ropey granted and in fairness to Manning I assume he has not had football education as he was plucked from Ireland. Amos can clearly play with the ball, that’s evident, Eze can and Chair can as can Pugh another player who has played under a manager who insists on passing football. That’s over half the team with pedigree of playing possession/passing football but we the fans have got it in our heads we can’t. So these players can pass it everywhere but QPR? We’re not perfect at it, not many sides are, but for crying out loud it’s not our main problem and it’s actually not cost us any goals, maybe two, so I don’t get this obsession with it’s an issue. We have been lumping the ball for seasons conceding goals. Everyone going on about goals being conceded this season well we only kept four clean sheets from Jan to May (5months) last season what was our excuse then as we are not passing it? We concede goals, not because we’re passing it,but because we’re shit defensively and make too many individual errors. I really hope the management team are not as blinkered and stubborn as some of the fans on this subject and look a little bit deeper and the true cause
