9 players out of contract in the summer....
Article from football.london
The Hoops could be facing another summer of upheaval as Les Ferdinand and the QPR hierarchy prepare to decide the future of their players with fresh talks after the end of the season.
Phil Spencer takes a look at the nine players contracted to QPR who are out of contract this summer - and more importantly, whether he thinks they will stay at Loftus Road.
Angel Rangel
The experienced defender was a crucial part of the QPR first team in the first half of the season.
But after suffering an injury in December, coinciding with the return to fitness of Darnell Furlong, we're yet to see Rangel back in action.
The former Swansea man is almost back to full fitness, and it'll be interesting to see whether he'll feature in the starting XI between now and the end of the season.
Verdict - Angel Rangel certainly has a lot to offer at this level, and if the correct terms can be agreed - and assuming that he doesn't block the route to the first team for Darnell Furlong and Osman Kakay - I wouldn't be surprised to see Rangel offered a contract of some description.
Jake Bidwell
Bidwell is an ever-present in the Queens Park Rangers team - and deservedly so.
The full-back is undoubtedly a player that the club would like to retain, and with the club holding an option to extend his deal - it appears that the club hold the cards on this one.
The 25-year-old has admitted previously that his situation is unsettling, and it remains to be seen whether he will agree to extend his deal.
Verdict - The club's option on Jake Bidwell's contract is a huge plus, but given the financial situation at the club the focus will surely be on securing a deal which is financially viable for the club.
Either way, the final say on this one will likely be with QPR.
Joel Lynch
The defender had been a first team regular until the last few weeks of the season.
Now seemingly settling for a place on the bench, it remains to be seen whether the club will deem it worthwhile to offer a new contract to the 31-year-old.
He undoubtedly still has something to offer, but a deal, once again, is likely to depend on the finances.
Verdict - A deal will likely depend on the finances. Joel Lynch will want to be playing regular first team football at this stage in his career and it remains to be seen whether QPR will be willing to match the likely wage demands of a player who has fallen out of favour.
Grant Hall
The last two seasons have been plagued with injury - but Grant Hall looks to have found his fitness at the perfect time.
A regular in the QPR starting team in recent weeks, his involvement will undoubtedly be a huge boost for the defender who must have thought his days at Loftus Road were coming to an end.
Assuming that Hall can stay fit, he certainly has a lot to offer as he approaches the peak years of his career.
Verdict - A player who is certainly rated by the club, it's likely that QPR will be very keen to retain the services of Grant Hall.
Assuming that finances can be agreed, it wouldn't be a surprise to see the defender sign a deal that offers Hall an opportunity to prove his fitness while giving QPR a risk-free commitment to the defender.
Pawel Wszolek
Another player who has been a key part of Steve McClaren's side this term.
The winger is thought to be one of the higher earners in the QPR squad, and given the interest from the continent last summer, he's a player who could have several offers on the table.
Crucially, QPR have an option to extend Pawel Wszolek's deal, meaning that the final say on his future lies with them.
Verdict - While QPR hold the cards on this one, it remains to be seen whether QPR will want to extend Wszolek's contract on the terms he's currently on.
The winger is one of the highest earners at the club at it may be seen as an opportunity that works for both parties to allow Wszolek to move on - clearing his salary from the QPR wage bill.
Alex Baptiste
After signing for the club under Ian Holloway, Alex Baptiste played a key role for QPR last term.
However this season, the defender has hardly featured.
Now out on loan with Luton Town, it appears that Baptiste has played his final game for the club.
Verdict - After falling down the pecking order, it is almost inevitable that Alex Baptiste will leave at the end of his current contract.
Jordan Cousins
The midfielder has played a central role since Geoff Cameron was forced out of action with injury.
With Cameron unlikely to return to Loftus Road at the end of his loan deal, it could pave the way for Cousins to make himself a first team regular with the Hoops next term.
Cousins certainly adds value and Steve McClaren won't want to lose him without a replacement forthcoming.
Verdict - With QPR set to lose their loan stars over the summer, it's likely that Jordan Cousins could become a more central figure at the club next term.
If the correct terms can be agreed, I wouldn't be surprised to see the former Charlton man playing a much more central role next season.
Olamide Shodipo
Injuries have hugely disrupted the career of a player who was once tipped to be the next big thing coming out of Loftus Road.
However with hardly any football under his belt during the last 18 months, it seems that Shodipo's pathway to the first team is far from clear.
It's likely that this one will depend on whether QPR believe he can force his way into the first team next term.
Verdict - After falling down the pecking order, I think it's likely that Shodipo could be allowed to move on this summer.
He has a bright future in the game, but perhaps a fresh start is exactly what is needed for the young winger.
Charlie Owens
The midfielder is among the current crop of young stars who are expected to move into the first team fold.
Currently enjoying a loan spell with Wycombe Wanderers, Owens is gaining the first team football that was needed, and the hope is that he'll mature as a player during this time.
Owens will be on relatively low money, meaning that the chances of QPR extending his deal is fairly likely.
Verdict - Assuming that his loan spell goes well, I fully expect the club to offer him an extension to see if he can move into the first team set-up next term.
