I knew when I read the original post that you'd raise exception to this one Esox. Clearly nobody is begrudging a minute of their time. Also I don't think it's a case of fans lacking empathy. The concern (as quite clearly stated a few times) is that if you have a minutes applause every week or every other week, there is a genuine concern of the gesture losing it's meaning. I remember the weekend Ray Jones died. Me and my mate, 2 lads in our early 20's welling up at the loss of one of our favourite players in R Block before the game. What would we do now if we lost a 1st team player? When there is a minute applause/silence every week, somehow that gesture wouldn't quite seem enough. I don't think people will forget what the minutes applause is for at all, it is for people connected to the club who have died. To say it should be for highly regarded players stated in a different post is akin to a kick in the bollocks to the likes of Matty Braziers family for example; his family didn't suffer a lesser sense of loss because he wasn't a star player did they. We have 23 home games a season and if I had to clap for a minute at every one of them I would still feel for the families of those that had lost loved ones. As I said, if it bothers you go for a piss.

Why not through year put a paragraph on site or program, and then last home game each year, put all names on score board and do min silence or applause for lot. Great idea... And an exception can always be made for an obvious and prominent special case. Who decides whose death is the worthier? Everyone's death is a tragdy to someone.

Is it not possible to just ignore LGBT flags? you might not care who people sleep with but unfortunately as the many violent incidents against gay people show, some people clearly still do. Autistic singers? Women's team? not interested but why should it bother me? makes no odds. I just watch the football....which does bother me If the football was better I wouldn't notice such things! You are right, I should just ignore them, but to me it seems the club can't wait to tick a box to further prove how politically correct they are. Each of the things I mentioned and each of the things I didn't isn't annoying in isolation but it's the fact that we are subjected to so much woke bollocks in real life and should be able to escape it in a traditional working class escapism venue. QPR has never had an issue with racism, sexism or any other ism currently in fashion because people just come/came here to watch football and yet the club's over-kill of wokeness suggests that they genuinely believe that there was a problem and it needs to be tackled... I do see your point. Football is worldwide though and even we have a large amount of international fans so while the club has not had major issues in these areas, you can still highlight it for others. I hate these new terms like "woke" as think it puts a label on things when all you need is right or wrong. The lines get blurred on things that should be just common sense.

If only we were half as good on the pitch as we are at virtue signalling off the pitch, eh?

If only we were half as good on the pitch as we are at virtue signalling off the pitch, eh? The two aren't concomitant as you well know.

Worlds gone soft Thank god we still git fox hunting, badger baiting, cock and dog fighting left. And god how I miss seal clubbing. Now that's worth a minute's applause of anyone's time.
