State of the pitch. The stuff which you used to play in compared to current times
Looks like we had good numbers up there when we score at the end

I was probably there as I went to most games back then. I do wish my memory was better!

Always chuckle when I remember our fans chanting in a match against them under Ollie in League 1. βYour shit and you stink of fishβ π

Surely you can remember a pitch which was a swimming pool Croy π Pathetic isn't it! I was only about 18 then so it is a long time ago but isn't that the season we went up? If so I went to most aways. I do remember walking through the town and us all laughing as it actually did stink of fish.

my dad has a funny story from when fulham played grimsby around the same time.
his parents had gone on holiday and left my dad some money for food etc and specifically told him not fo be stupid as he wasn't the best behaved. he decided to spend the money on a haircut and a fulham ticket with his friends instead. so they all jump on the train and head up there but as my dad was more concerned with fashion than practicality he'd worn trousers with no pockets so gave his money and train ticket to one of his friends instead.
fulham won the game and on the way back to the station they walked through a dark park which had a few older grimsby fans in it. they noticed a few of my dads friends wearing fulham shirts and confronted them. it wasn't long before one of the grimsby fans pulled a knife out so my dad and his mates ran off ... in different directions. my dad waited at the station for his mates but after an hour or so no one had arrived, or they'd already gone so he tried begging people for a train ticket which didn't work. eventually he decided to walk to the police station and they called one of his parents friends to come pick him up. my dad was in an absolute world of trouble when his parents came home lol

To be fair to your dad getting his haircut was quite a responsible thing to do π

All three very acceptable CCJ , i got badly caught out in bright lemon coloured Lois cords down Tottenham high rd ,after giving it the biggun at Spurs away in 83/84 season ! Hard to blend in looking like Bananaman !

Great season that was, me and my best pal went to nearly every home and away barring a couple of games. We were only 15 at the time, on the underground in the morning we found a wallet with 68 quid in it.. a lot back then. We never handed it in.. boys being boys we thought we now had loads of dosh to buy beers in the ground at Grimsby. Would you believe that Grimsby had barred alcohol to be served in the away end. Gutted!!
