Ok, think its time that the club invest some of that money into the playing squad.
we need a half decent keeper, cb and now a striker.

We likely won't be able to use that money because of FFP

If FFP is the reason how were we going to pay for Scott Mckenna in the summer? He would have been between 4 to 6 million.

about that mate.
at what point though, are we able to spend money on a player?
do we have to sell for 20 mil before we can spend 2mil?
surely there is money to be spent.
did we not put in a 4mil bid for mckenna in the summer? where has that money gone?

I know we made offer but don’t think it’s ever been verified officially how much
I dont believe we offered 4+ for him. My guess would be we offered couple of mil

But is it enough to get wells and if he worth what there asking. Personally I would not offer more then 2mil for him given age and contract situation. If Forest or Bristol want to spunk 5mil, more fool them
Not just about having money for me but spending it wisely as there is not lots of it

If we have 2 million go for Shankland at Dundee United. Young and knows where the goal is and no matter what league you play in the goals are in the same place on the pitch.

It's possible we could sell him at 31/32 IF...if he was still scoring goals...kind of fee is nothing to a relegated prem team but it is a risk.

What part of this FFP thing are you not grasping Hits?
Nice to see you back posting though, even though it coincides with some bad news for the club.

we sold them to generate money. you can lose 13m a season in the championship and have 3 seasons to have a loss of no more than 39m combined. you could have 2 seasons of breaking even then go and splurge out 39m and comply with ffp. we're in a good place financially and theres no reason to jeopardise what we're doing and thd proof is on the pitch with eze, bos and chair being examples of being shrewd rather than splashing cash.
the team still needs a season or 2 to develop and i'm sure the club is well aware of that. in a season or 2 i can see the club taking steps to make a challenge for promotion and spending on players that will be improvements

I maybe wrong on this but I thought the FFP restriction on market business effectively lifts and the end of this season...

I maybe wrong on this but I thought the FFP restriction on market business effectively lifts and the end of this season... It's an ongoing thing. It rolls over to each season, but worked out over a three year period. So 2017/18-2019/20 would count as one period, but then 2018/19 and 2019/20 would also count towards the next three year period to 2020/21. The club's most likely still losing a few million each season so we're probably sailing close to what the club sees as acceptable loss for each year.

but that’s what Aberdeen wanted not what we offered We did bid though Westy. Regardless of our valuation we would have had to pay a fee in pound note form. Arsenal have been using a pay installments scheme for donkey's years, maybe Lee Hoos is trying that route. As I understand it the P&S assessment figures for three years ago drop off for next season and some money will be available for team building. There was an interview with Lee Hoos a couple of seasons ago where he said the cost of putting on a match in W12 was something like £7.5m a season. With the average price of a ticket at say £25 and gates at a generous 14k per game :-) that brings in around £8.5m a season so, in actuality it is probably running matchdays at a basic loss as our gates are probably a lot lower than that. There is a lot of sponsorship which is helping us keep our heads above water and I expect us to be in the black for this season when the figures are published. I think, but am not sure, that he P&S figures for next season have to be submitted to the EFL before the end of this season which is why the rolling payment plan for season tickets has been a godsend for the club as it is regular income and easy to plan with. You know things were sketchy when we had to sell Darnell for a sum believed to be either £2m or £3m to keep within the £39m FFP limit. Things should be nowhere near as tight as that from now on as the club has reigned in the spending and still managing, for the most part admittedly, an attractive to watch football team which isn't battling relegation. The 10 year fine payments are not included in the P&S accountability.
