I think we have every right to question him if we are interested in him and probably will spend money on him. Different thing if he signs, then we should give him a proper chance.

The mad thing is Westy is a lot of the same fans were crying out when the big money signings were being made for us to go back to our roots and start signing players on their way up the divisions. Lyndon Dykes seems to be that. Started his career in Australia, few years in Scotland, now he's on the brink of making his international debut and looking for a move down South. Isn't that surely exactly the sort of player that we should be looking at? Maybe the issue is the fee. Thing is if these people complaining crunched the numbers they'd realise we probably spent 2m quid loaning Hugill and Nahki Wells last season and we had to hand them back. Personally I'd rather we invested money in players we think are gonna improve and gain value. And it probably isn't 2m quid up front either by the way. It may reach 2m quid with add ons as I understand it. Or maybe the issue is Dykes plays in Scotland and people assume that this automatically means he isn't up to English football. That's a pretty silly assumption too. Plenty of players have started their careers in Scotland and actually not achieved much up there before doing well stronger leagues. To name a few, how about Charlie Adam, Gennaro Gattuso, John Fleck, or even Mikel Arteta. Also Robertson at Liverpool, Gilmour at Chelsea and Tierney at Arsenal for a start. John McGinn at Villa is another one to mention |

On the fee other then the two clubs no fucker knows what it is. It could be 500k for all we know We have fans getting worked up over links to players and made up gossip when they have no idea if it’s true or tale Always amazes me how fans claim to know the salaries the players get as well. |

Lets hope he is more Mark Viduka than he is Ned Zelic! Know nothing about him but if Celtic were sniffing that is a decent endorsement as they have one of the best scouting/recruitment teams in Europe but they will never pay over what they think is a players valuation. They lost out on John McGinn over 500k and Villa stepped in and he is now worth 4 or 5 times what they paid for him.

You'd be surprised how loose lipped some close to the club are about what salaries players are on. I was at a game with a well known (and generally well liked) ex player last season and he was literally giving it "he's on that much" about a number of our players that day. Mind you, that's not to say it was all gospel. All I'm saying is I understand how people on the message boards will claim to know more or less what players are earning. |

It would be a very wise move by him if he did. Imo,he looks very much like a confidence player who could do with a season or two at QPR. He still lacks a bit of stability also.

Has good relationship with Amos and apparently open to at least discussing a new contract. Just rumours mate, nothing concrete. Also reading that we paid Spurs 500k for Amos but they have a 40% sell on clause inserted in the deal! |

I wonder if we can sign Dykes on the condition that he doesn’t play for Australia. We know from experience how badly it affected Luongo’s performances after travelling half way round the world for a few training sessions and a place on the bench.
