Probably easier for MW to finally concentrate on goals against without our Four top goal scorers from this season

I reckon there's gonna be a load of activity yet. BOS, Eze, Manning and Leistner will all be off. Wouldn't be surprised if we tried to ship Lumley out too.
If I'm right about 4 or 5 going then it could be as many as 10 or 11 in.

Add Niko Hamalainen to list too think he will get game time We're actually not in awful shape defensively. Need a big ugly centre half (unless somehow MW can bury the hatchet with Leistner) and probably a little more cover at left back if Manning is off. Kakay coming back so strongly has saved us a big headache.

Add Niko Hamalainen to list too think he will get game time We're actually not in awful shape defensively. we have two keepers with no hands. we have a young center back, a german that has no desire to play for us again, a rightback whos career is probably over due to a serious injury, a left back that is a permanent fixture on the physio table. add to that, we have conceded the most goals in the clubs entire history.

I think the pandemic has made deeper cuts inevitable and we could probably see much earlier this season that a big churn of players was on the cards. Not too many surprises over who is leaving.

We have never replaced Smithies and cannot afford not to address that and the centre back situation as concede 84 goals next season with the likely departures and the bottom 3 will be calling. Our offensive play was seriously influenced by the 3 most likely to leave so we need to be careful in thinking that we will be ok based on the season just gone. Recruitment is the most crucial it has been in long time so all the people involved in that need to get it right.

Take a day off mate! We really ain't doing as bad as you like to make out. apart from the keepers not having hands, tell me what part of that post is factually incorrect. Well the injured right back is a free agent who will probably retire now and will be no financial burden on the club for starters. It's also just the overall tone mate. We've played some great attacking football this season and achieved our best finish since we significantly reduced our outgoings 3 or 4 years back. We've also been pretty competitive for a team with no players that costs anything more than a nominal transfer fee. On top of that, we've developed 3 young players that bigger sides are looking at who will probably fetch us combined transfer fees of around 40m quid, against a combined outlay of less than 1m quid when we signed them. OK, the manager's attitude towards the defensive side of the game is bloody frustrating and is preventing us from being genuine contenders for the top spots, but you've gotta take the rough with the smooth. And as for the constant complaining about the quality of the squad, can you not just stick a pin in it for 3 or 4 week? Give MW and the board a bit of time to get some transfer fees in and then reinvest some of the proceeds. I personally expect us to strengthen and be competitive next year.

i only responded to your initial post about our defense not being awful.
i did not mention anything about financial burdens or players we have developed.
i just responded to your assertion that our defence is not that bad.

Not only is the defence awful it was embarrassing listening to Andy Hinchclffe bumping his gums describing how bad our defensive displays have been this season.
If outsiders can see it quite clearly no reason why fans on this board cannot also make their feelings heard.
Once Eze and BOS leave can anyone on here really trust what the clowns at the club have in mind because I donβt.

They are not excatly clowns. , but imo they have not excactly covered thenselves in glory, as far as the well tested - build from the back- formula is concerned. Thing is, Whether he likes or not: MW might very well find himself without a job before 10 matches of the new season have been played. Worst case scenario I know, but anyway..
