Just interested, who specifically at the time was available (don't think we had the money to pay compensation so it would need to be a manager out of work and not demanding a vast salary?). Who would obvs have been better, without using hindsight by pointing to someone who has happened to do incredibly since then? I did all that and posted it up here. Potter when he was looking to come back here from the Northern Lights. Bruno Lage when no fucker over here had even heard of him. Posted it. On both occasions we were busy making questionable appointments. Another one was Montella, currently in turkey, career win % around 45.

I've not doubt these are factors. Which is why certain decisions can, on the surface, seem so inexplicable to fans who then inevitably vent their frustrations over it. The club can only be transparent to a point, without giving too much away, understandably. It's only natural Warbs bears the brunt of criticism as he's picking the team and formation, as well as deciding who to sign and not to sign (within his role). As 77 correctly points out though, you can like him and support him whilst still being critical when need be. Shades of grey IOW. It's also perfectly natural for fans to vent their ire during or straight after a game, then often retract some of it once the red mist has settled back down. Largely agree. All I would say is unlike a lot of managers Warbs clearly reads a lot of online comments. How would some fans who are so keen to vent feel if people were constantly saying online that they are useless/ clueless/ has to go, a c*nt, etc. We touched on it the other week about how social media makes certain people say things they would never say to someone's face. By all means criticise, but do it without abuse or crazily OTT statements if they then want to be taken seriously. If people call for the sacking of our most successful manager in a decade, fine if that's what you want to do, but at least hold you hand up afterwards and say "sorry about that, it was a bit silly, got carried away". Otherwise next time we lose a match - and we will - it will seem natural to some to go even further. Anyone who has been on the end of abuse online knows what it feels like and I've yet to see an example of where its made someone better at the job. Constructive criticism yes, some of the stuff on Twitter - wow. RFI has just celebrated it's 3rd birthday Rod. It has never associated itself with the toxic twitter shit-fest of which you talk, let alone mentioned in the same breath as the good folk here.

Ridiculously, we win our game in hand and we go 5th - even though we've lost the last 6 out of 9 games!
What a really shit league it must be this year, making it all the more frustrating how much he's cocked things up.

Another way of looking at it is that it's precisely because it's such a shit league this season that has allowed us to do so well with one of the cheapest squads in the Championship, despite many injuries, losing players to AFCON and minimal transfer activity.

Totally agree and exactly why it’s frustrating that we didn’t just tweak it a little bit. We could easily be way off next season if you look at how some lower teams have found a bit of form.

Almost like the board are happy sitting on the property and hoping for a bite...

2 wins in 14. lost 10. conceded 24 in that time. scored 11.
lost to the likes of peterbrough twice and barnsley. in that time i think we've only played well against blackpool and preston today, the other games have all been dogshit or because the other team has been bad themselves.
has got to go, we're on a shocking run of games.

I’m guessing if he goes it will be end of season when contract comes natural end
No point him going into next season, no matter what views are, as as soon as he loses couple, especially if early in campaign on the calls will be loud

And employ who for gods sake We should just give it to Eustace for the last few game Gen. If we'd made that call after the Peterborough game, we could still be in with a shout for play offs.

And employ who for gods sake ainsworth - wycombe neil critchley - blackpool michael duff - cheltenham farke (unlikely) liam manning - mk dons paul warne - rotherham mark bonner - cambridge karl robinson - oxford rob edwards - forest green rovers thats just from UK based managers. all have worked wonders on a small budget and have overachieved at their clubs. they're all young and have a decent level of experience too. there's lots of others abroad that could potentially improve us, the guy at gil vicente in portugal is doing a tremendous job there but i feel he's certainly out of our league.

We don't have that kind of board. They are quite loyal to managers on the whole. They're not the ruthless types and always make changes later rather than sooner.

Why is Eustace all of a sudden the messiah? I don't get it. as a caretaker for 4 games why not? he's a highly rated coach by many in the game and i think the club have him earmarked as a future manager of us. not just us either as he's been interviewed for a couple of jobs and is irelands number 2. already has experience managing with kidderminster. if he does well then great, if not then its no loss. but if we bring someone here and he goes elsewhere and does well then we'd all be kicking ourselves and slagging off the club for missing out. nothing to lose, everything to gain.
