100% it's the recruitment that has saved us this season. Before January, quite frankly we were dogshit. Wanted Warbs out but I've done a full 180 on that opinion, he just needed better quality players in as the squad just wasn't good enough before Jan. I don't think its just been the players brought in personally. Of course, they've been a huge part of it. But I do also think that Warburton has sacrificed a little bit of his footballing philosophy in order to tighten things up at the back. I said it at the turn of the year. Something changed about the same time Charlie arrived. I think somebody higher up had a word in Warburton's ear. Let's be honest, we weren't going anywhere until we worked out how to plug up our leaky Defence! I agree with most of that mate. It is certainly a lot more credible than the we were dogshit argument (sorry Ginge but we normally agree to be fair). We were still decent to watch earlier in the season and very unlucky at times. It is the sort of bad luck you see when teams are struggling - look at Fulham for instance, a month ago they looked like they would comfortably stay up but now Newcastle have turned it around and Fulham concede late goals. Without question the loan signings improved us but we were only 2 or 3 players away from being decent and that has been borne out.

We were still decent to watch earlier in the season and very unlucky at times Exactly. Big difference is that we have been able to win most of the games where we have played well in 2021, whereas we would only draw or even lose them in 2020. We have still had a couple of games, where the players haven´t performed as required this half season, and deservedly lost those, IMO. To state the obvious our upturn in form is probably due to a combination of incoming players, change of formation, tweaking tactics slightly, and players learning curve as MW puts it.

Can we delete shit threads like this?! Embarrassing to see. Warburton is average championship gaffer at best. Then again, that's all the boardroom seems to require. Me, I think almost all of our recent managerial appointments have been short sighted at best or abysmal at worst. You only have to see who else was a) available and b) realistic when we made those appointments.

Last time I looked we were fourth in the league table with one of the smallest budgets. That would speak for Warburton to be a clearly above-average Championship manager. But of course I don't want any facts to affect your opinions.
It's quite funny that people expect us to play like Liverpool. Like we should be much better than all the rest teams, except maybe Fulham. Maybe some wouldn't be satisfied even then.
I kind of understand you as I felt the same with Holloway. He's the only manager I never supported, not a single day. But I avoided posting about him, both good and bad things. Was very happy when we got rid of him.

Mark Warbs is clearly a good manager and he has got us into a great position even if he left now
He just needs to motivate the players better for the big matches critical matches
He would then become a great manager and we would be promoted
Even though we won on sunday i just watched the game again and they could have had it won by half time
This is totally not acceptable and needs to stop as it has been going on too long

Henrick instead or Amos is a crazy move
Our midfield weekness has been a problem all season
They controlled the midfield again on sunday
We were very lucky to win this match imho
Gray is the way forward at the moment not Dykes get rid keep Gray

I'm not saying he's been a disaster (unlike some of the decisions made upstairs), but there are some obvious flaws with what he brings to the table. Having that, if he pulls it off this time round it would be little short of miraculous.

Just interested, who specifically at the time was available (don't think we had the money to pay compensation so it would need to be a manager out of work and not demanding a vast salary?). Who would obvs have been better, without using hindsight by pointing to someone who has happened to do incredibly since then? I mean there might be someone but I honestly think if we had Jurgen Klopp there would be selections he made that would baffle/ frustrate you and probably many other fans: he would do something like always play Osman Kakay at left wing, and fans would moan about it. Its always been this way. One of the smaller budgets and under Warbs we have finished something like 17th, then 13th, then 9th and we are currently 4th. You must be a very hard man to please!

I remember watching Liverpool game a couple of seasons ago, when they won the title. They went 1-0 down through Dejan Lovren's mistake. Thought I would tweet something using the game's hastag when saw someone there was absolutely furious at Klopp. "That bastard makes the same mistakes time and time again. Does he ever learn" etc. etc. Some fans are never happy.

Huge Warbs fan. Exactly what we need. Wish he weren't so stubborn though. People watching from Mars Sunday could tell the three he played in midfield was an absolutely, totally shit selection.

His problem is that he sometimes seems to be his worst enemy. Why break up a winning team ? Sport`s science and things going on behind the scene could party be the answer here. I`m not sure.

Sport`s science and things going on behind the scene could party be the answer here. I've not doubt these are factors. Which is why certain decisions can, on the surface, seem so inexplicable to fans who then inevitably vent their frustrations over it. The club can only be transparent to a point, without giving too much away, understandably. It's only natural Warbs bears the brunt of criticism as he's picking the team and formation, as well as deciding who to sign and not to sign (within his role). As 77 correctly points out though, you can like him and support him whilst still being critical when need be. Shades of grey IOW. It's also perfectly natural for fans to vent their ire during or straight after a game, then often retract some of it once the red mist has settled back down.

It's also perfectly natural for fans to vent their ire during or straight after a game, then often retract some of it once the red mist has settled back down. Largely agree. All I would say is unlike a lot of managers Warbs clearly reads a lot of online comments. How would some fans who are so keen to vent feel if people were constantly saying online that they are useless/ clueless/ has to go, a c*nt, etc. We touched on it the other week about how social media makes certain people say things they would never say to someone's face. By all means criticise, but do it without abuse or crazily OTT statements if they then want to be taken seriously. If people call for the sacking of our most successful manager in a decade, fine if that's what you want to do, but at least hold you hand up afterwards and say "sorry about that, it was a bit silly, got carried away". Otherwise next time we lose a match - and we will - it will seem natural to some to go even further. Anyone who has been on the end of abuse online knows what it feels like and I've yet to see an example of where its made someone better at the job. Constructive criticism yes, some of the stuff on Twitter - wow.
