I would be gutted if he left. He’s building something special.

Hmm. Strange they say ‘not a grain of truth’ yet I was told the same thing 10 weeks ago? Odd. Get him his new contract Rangers 💪🏼

Speculation on this one will continue until the FA appoint someone, or Warburton signs a new deal here. I personally reckon there has to be some truth to it.
Not sure about all the outpouring though. Yeah, we've been great in the last 2 months. But wind it back beyond that, I don't think too many would have been that fussed if Warburton wasn't going to extend his deal. I'd rather he stayed now we have appeared to turn a corner. Won't be slitting my wrists if he doesn't want to!

I think it’s more that if we change manager you almost undo the squad that’s been built as it’s Warbs squad. New manager, new ideas. For us it’s key to try to keep Fulham lad.

I'm not hopeful myself, I think he'll be useful to Fulham in the Championship next season. The numbers don't add up unless Fulham (or the player) are prepared to take a hit. That type of scenario only happens when a club wants a player off the wage bill. I don't necessarily disagree with what you are saying with Warburton building a squad etc. It would be nice to see a Manager see the job through to a 3rd and possibly 4th season. I genuinely cannot remember the last Manager we had that lasted that long. All I'm saying is it isn't the end of the world if he decides he'd rather be at the FA. Decent Championship level Manager, not much more than that. He's replaceable in my opinion.

Not sure about all the outpouring I think it's partly the frustration of 'what might have been'. We'd be in the play-offs now if 2 or 3 games had gone our way over the season, which so easily could have happened. As I've said, it was that dreadful run in December that really fucked up our season. You hear people talking about must win games later on in a season, but 2 or 3 of those December games were must win (instead of draw) by that logic

I get what you are saying Stan. You kind of get the feeling that we should be in or around the play-offs next season if we can keep this group together and add few. I don't think a change in Manager needs to necessarily derail that though.

Was very critical of him during that dark period and am very happy to be proven wrong. Well done to MW and the coaching and playing staff for turning it around. Getting rid of Samuel and getting them loans in really did unite the squad in a positive way.

Many reasons to be upbeat going into next season, whether Warburton is in charge or not.

Rebuilt club with 4th lowest budget in the league. He has signed players with potential large sale values - Dickie, Willock, Dykes and possibly Barbet and Thomas. He has helped develop players to increase their value - Dieng, Chair & Eze. We play with a real identity, flair and team spirit. Losing MW would jeopardise all of that.

The question of 'what might have been this season' was put to Warbs last night and his response was "it's been a learning curve for the players", which was a fair enough answer I thought.

It's been almost automatic promotion form in 2021 let alone playoff form.
We've been great to watch since Warbs has been manager which I have said all along. Sure we added steel and the loan signings have made us better but we weren't bad before given the circumstances and have nearly always been entertaining.

Great that it’s all turned around but are we now saying that without Charlie, Johansen and, to a lesser extent, De Wijs and Field we wouldn’t be flirting dangerously with relegation? All the comment and opinion about a poor squad but not getting the best out of it, or sign Div 1 players you get Div 1, or Dykes and Bonne are duds was all rubbish and we could survive with a dodgy defence and no goal scorer? The test will come if we don’t keep the loans and this squad which has come together since Christmas. I don’t believe anyone really had that much faith and saw this fantastic finish coming.

100% it's the recruitment that has saved us this season. Before January, quite frankly we were dogshit. Wanted Warbs out but I've done a full 180 on that opinion, he just needed better quality players in as the squad just wasn't good enough before Jan.

I don't think its just been the players brought in personally. Of course, they've been a huge part of it. But I do also think that Warburton has sacrificed a little bit of his footballing philosophy in order to tighten things up at the back. I said it at the turn of the year. Something changed about the same time Charlie arrived. I think somebody higher up had a word in Warburton's ear. Let's be honest, we weren't going anywhere until we worked out how to plug up our leaky Defence!

Let's be honest, we weren't going anywhere until we worked out how to plug up our leaky Defence! Echoes of Ollie's last stint when he FINALLY dropped the wingback system (that fans had been calling for all season) and hey presto our form improved. The difference in his case is it took him 3/4 of a season for the penny to finally drop! 😆 By which time yet another lost season had passed by.
