Decent point, dickie much better and would like to see dieng given a run now. Exudes confidence. Kakay was another real positive. Thought chair was trying a bit too hard. Dykes needs some support but worked really hard for the team. Overall I’ll take that

2nd half summary
Decent game for Amos overall in his preferred position of spoiler.
Carroll on for Thomas on the hour, very unlucky to not score, hit the woodwork. Showed his quality again.
Another excellent cameo by Smyth who replaced Chair on 70 mins. Hustled, harried and tracked back. Always full of energy.
Really good debut by Dieng in tough conditions with a strong northerly wind. Always assured, good positioning, reading, catching and punching out when needed. Not greatly tested but didn't put a foot wrong and looks a very natural keeper.
Rob Dickie worthy of a mention too with some good last ditch tackles and powerful heading.
We dominated play and unlucky not to get 3pts imo, but perhaps still lacking that cutting edge.
On the plus side, our defending looked better, other than the goal. I think Masterson in for Barbet would improve us further. Both full backs did well today.

We didn't see enough of Dieng to make a judgement. Still all over the place at times in defence, still wide open too often in LB area and still don't get it in for Dykes enough - although Kakay does look as though he's getting it. All things we need to improve without necessarily having to sign players. Sometimes a passage of play is great to watch, sometimes we resemble Bill's pub team. Dykes is clearly a handful and a good signing, they have to get him involved more in front of goal. It's all training ground stuff so you have to ask why the same things keep happening.

I watched game with a neutral who has never seen comments on here, obviously. He saw some really decent players and couldn't believe we didn't have enough out there to win that. Commented that our defenders look like they met in the dressing room, asked if our regular LB was out injured and said lack of a leader on the field to change our play at times cost us the game. Struck a chord.

To make the same mistakes over and over again tells me that they are being ignored or that MW is unable to organise the back line |
