This lad needs to get his finger out and earn himself a move to a club where he can fulfil his potential. He doesn't seem to understand that it's an incredibly short career in which literally every game of every season matters, so every missed game is a missed opportunity. He's 25 now, 73 so will regret these times when he's older.

Really big game for him today assuming he starts as seems likely.
Does he still really want it?
Is he fully recovered and sharp?
Will he be motivated by a manager who clearly believes in such players?
Will he be played in a formation which allows him to link closely with Chair like we saw in the training vids?
Or was there a reason Ainsworth basically humiliated him restricting him to these apparently pointless 2 min cameos?
Not expecting him to get back to where he was overnight and think we should be patient with him. As the manager says everyone starts with a fresh piece of paper now. Crucial player for us if we are to somehow get out of this predicament

Cifuentes:
“I like good players and Chris is a good player. He has technical quality to play in small spaces and he needs to be decisive, so hopefully we can get him back to his best level. I think he tried a lot in a very difficult game for him. He will be an important player for us."

We are going to have to swallow some poor performances from him in order to gain fitness and confidence. This is exactly what I want to hear from our manager.

Totally agree, and Willock needs an arm round him at the moment too which is what I think Cifuentes will do. Hopefully before long we'll get our Willock back, the one we all know and love.

He must have been briefed on the situation regarding Willock - that he pulled the strings for us but that something has gone wrong - and recognises that he has to get him firing. Great news for player and us that we once again have a manager with a brain who sees it as his job to get the best out of our best players.

I'm still not convinced he`s trusting his hamstring. Here`s hoping he will fully recover of course!

I'm still not convinced he`s trusting his hamstring. IMO they wouldn't risk playing him if it wasn't healed by now. Would have thought it's more just a matter of getting his match fitness back.

Said it before. Just running his contract down, avoiding injury and probably has a deal in place to go to pastures new.

Thought he played well yesterday. He's going to keep improving under Marti, I think we still might see the scintillating player that we saw at the start of last season.

Just had no one on the end of them. yep. lots of half chances and pushing to score. i think we had a half decent chance from a corner which would have gone in but was blocked by a defender. armstrongs penalty appeal, his header too. richards piss poor shot attempt when he should have crossed, dykes not passing to a wide open willock etc. there were lots of opportunities but poor decision making resulted in a lot of "what ifs..." as for willock i thought he looked lively and worried them at times. his best game in a while which isn't saying much but he was poorly utilized by gaz.

Certainly in the last couple of games we've probably created more chances than we have all season, albeit without converting.

Which is in July 2024 - And if that's really true I wouldn't bother to play him until then because he's zero use to us if he's not fully committed to the cause

Done ok. Some nice touches and link up play.
Don’t think he’s a shirker, but I do think he’s yet to get fully fit.
Another 4-5 games alongside Chair and he’ll be flying.

How I see it too, thought he was a lot better Saturday (albeit miles off his best). Marti clearly has him as part of his plans, get him some games under his belt & Marti's style to find its way into the side & I think we will start seeing something like the WIllock we know is in there.

I have no idea if he will ever be the same player. Some aren't after a major injury, like Faurlin. But what I do know is we have very little to lose at the moment and we may as well try to get potentially one of our two best players back to his best rather than sacrificing him for another bog-standard shirt-filler who we know in advance is not capable of turning our season round.

Don't want to overstate it as only one match, but forget for a moment the three points, how important could this be for our entire season if Willock turns it round now? It wasn't just the goal, his all round game looked much better.
Was it in part a confidence issue? Yes he will still be worried about doing another injury but there is nothing like a goal and a win to boost confidence. I remember when he first broke into the team he was lacking confidence and it took him time to get going. Some players are all about morale and he looks like one of those quite fragile players.
He could get injured next game or go back into his shell, nothing is guaranteed, but to me him scoring was the best thing that's happened to Rangers since Marti's arrival.

You know what though mate before he scored I was slating Willock. Thought he was shit and kept acting as though he was injured when he lost the ball. Fair play good goal though really hope that kicks time life into him.

But more about how hopefully he will now kick on.
