Would you play him from the start and if not performing pull him early to show his shortcomings or just bench him?

One very good tackle at the end too. yes. noticed that there was also that difficult ball over the top which he skilfully took down and held up. so for the sake of balance, i'm always going to give him credit for some of his good play bottom line though , he's still a 1 in 5 striker, at that. might be 1 in 6 now..... |

I don't want to muller him but again I've seen enough to tell me he shouldn't start next game. Within 1 min of Frey being on he had chased down their GK rushing him into a clearance which led to a foul and a FK for us. Exactly what Dykes doesn't do. |

I was out so didn’t watch the game. I saw the highlights and got Tod at that was an excellent assist. Timing, speed and accuracy were spot on for that ball to Chair. Could have easily been beaten away by the keeper if it wasn’t played well.

There were a few occasions when Chair broke out of the defensive formation to press a CB and neither Dykes, nor Armstrong to be fair, joined the press to pick up on an error. Neither of them offer anything to defending from the front - Armstrong still learning the game maybe but Dykes just looks like he can’t be arsed once a defender is on the ball. Camera picked up on Marti giving him a bollocking for not pressing. |

I thought he was ok and when he went off we lacked any presence at all up top hence why it felt like constant pressure.
He occupied defenders without really giving them a tough time but challenging made them rush their work. That stopped when he went off and they had time on the ball.
He’s played worse but played better too prob a 7/10 effort.

He played better from the moment Marti told him or Willock, or both for that matter, to put in some more effort. It surely must have worked because Dykes got his assist shortly after.  |

still should get shot of him in the summer.

he's still shit but has improved a little under marti. i think marti is just keeping it simple with him and having him play to his strengths which are is work rate and being like a mildly annoying gnat for defenders. still should get shot of him in the summer. Harsh Pressed better from the front than what Sinclair did. |
