I have serious concerns about Carroll in any sort of deeper/shielding/defensive role. He has no interest in playing unless the ball is at his feet and couldn't tackle a Big Mac. I got pelters when I once suggested Hollowhead had ruined Shodipo by expecting him to defend as well and was told all players should contribute to every aspect of play these days. Carroll does fuck all off the ball.

idk what our best formation is. i wouldn't mind seeing a 4231/424 kind of thing with bonne playing off dykes and dropping further back when we don't have the ball. adomah and BOS on the wings.
guess i'd go for
dieng
kakay dickie masterson nico
ball carrol
bos adomah
bonne
dykes
fullbacks push higher up the pitch to cover in midfield whilst the front 4 push on. drop into a 4411 when out of possession

I think we're overdue a look at Bettache. I remember getting some agreement when I called him Adel-lite following a cup game a couple of years ago. Wouldn't that be good? 🤞

Last season and this season we have constantly seen individual mistakes cost us points.
Lumley ,Barbet ,Wallace and Manning have all been seen to have been weak links.
This season since the removal of Manning and Lumley the defence have looked better but still continue to have shown signs of fragility
More players need to be moved down the pecking order as i feel Wallace Barbet and Cameron have all underperformed last season and continued to do so this time round.
I’m not interested that the players to come in i.e Hammalien, Masterson or Bettache have little to no experience of Championship football as we won’t know unless we play them...I think we all know by now what the three dropped players are capable of.

Bonne Dykes That looks like a diamond to me Stan, not sure we're good enough (Ball) for that but if we are going to play Carroll (not a fan - who knew? 🙂) and if he is good on the ball and can pick a pass then it makes sense to play him where he could trigger the front two. A defence splitting pass could be worth 10 mazey runs from Chair that produce nothing. You can forget defending from the front though. |

Most important is not to play Carroll and Chair at the same time as both are so ineffective. Would prefer Carroll to Chair in the starting XI. Of course they have a different role.

ffs, what do people see in carroll. he does nothing. My selection is based on playing players in their best positions. Thomas is injured otherwise I'd have picked him. The only other option would be MAGA but he's been inconsistent too. Ball I already picked, so there's no else who can play there without jamming square pegs into round holes. |

Would not consider Carroll to be a creative M/F player as he appears to make short simple passes only.
Would it be too much to ask for a ball winning M/F to have a similar skill set to Carroll ?
