Wonder what sort of scouting system we have outside the UK, for instance in S.America. Or Africa. Do we do any of that? We don’t seem to do much scouting in the UK!

Can see this having a huge effect on Brentford’s current transfer policy surely they just implement what ever system they use into effect in UK market They have been good uk market anyway Toney, pinnock, Rico and Mepham few years back I don’t know the rules but imagine that players outside of big 5 countries need to prove they are better than UK players I.e international caps or a designated amount of club appearances. Even though teams like Brentford have purchased reasonably well in the UK most of their stellar signings would have been significantly cheaper and seemingly unknown to teams like us and others. Look at their current squad for 2020 where there players are predominately from outside of UK.

De Wijs is still not official, makes me wonder what the hold up is about? Failed his medical?

i've read a bit more on how brexit will effect signings and i'll try my best to sum it up as simply as possible, its still pretty complicated so i may be a bit off in some aspects.
signing players from the top 5 leagues outside of the PL (la liga, bundesliga, serie a, ligue 1 and portugal) won't be too difficult as long as they meet various criteria.
1. they have played in considerable number of league and cup games.
2. are over 18.
3. regularly play international football.
theres a points system in place to value each player to determine if they're eligable for a work permit. so an average squad player from la liga for example who only really plays in cup games or off the bench would still likely be granted a work permit after an appeal as he would still meet the requirements for a move.
outside of the top 5 leagues it will be harder, but not impossible, to sign a player depending on the circumstances. so for example lets say luka modric's younger clone was playing for dinamo zagreb and spurs wanted to sign him all over again. they would most likely be rejected by the government initially due to him playing in a low ranking league so would then lodge an appeal. they would then present their case to be reviewed and would argue that he's an elite level player due to "x" reasons and would then likely be granted permission to sign him. hope that makes sense!
obviously signing players from outside the top 5 leagues will greatly favour PL clubs as they persue better footballers from other european leagues than lower league clubs. another example what WON'T happen though is a league 1 club signing lower league players from overseas. so for example swansea signing angel rangel from seguanda B side terrasa back in 2007 when they were in league 1 likely wouldn't go through today if a similar transfer happened. rangel simply wouldn't meet the requirements needed to sign for a league 1 side. not that its impossible, just that it would meet incredible difficulties convincing the government that he's an essential signing.
feeder clubs will likely become more common practice for PL teams though as the PL sides will still sign younger players from random leagues. they'll then loan them out for years at a time to their feeder clubs to enable them to meet the requirements for a UK work permit.
the new transfer rules will certainly affect "smart" clubs like brentford as their scouting model targets overachieving players in overachieving teams from smaller leagues.
the new brexit rules won't affect signings from the UK or ireland however, so we could still sign a ryan manning 2.0. however we would likely meet difficulties in signing a toni leistner or seb polter as they played their football in the 2 bundesliga.
.....however lol, if there was a regular international player from a top 50 ranked side playing in the 2nd tier of one of the top 5 leagues there likely wouldn't be much of an issue signing them.
the points system for transfers is a bit confusing though. i think a player needs 1500 points to be granted a work permit and each cup or league game is worth 100 points. i think anyway.
i've probably not explained stuff as best as i could have whilst overexplaining other things and been a bit longwinded for sure. but thats the basic gist of what i've read

Interesting that Stoke have signed a left winger and a left back on loan and have yet to confirm the signing of Alfie Doughty 😎

Had a look on utube at Mowatt titled “an all round midfielder” He looks pretty good but didn’t realise he’s another left peg player....can’t see having Carroll alongside him would be a good balance. Can only remember Nigel Quasie being a M/F left hooker in any previous QPR team. Nb-there’s prob loads like Faurlin and Fillery

We`re interested in Alex Pritchard apparently. I have just seen this as well. He was brilliant for Norwich but hasn't worked out well for him at a goal shy Huddersfeild. Could be a brilliant signing that.

They are saying on Twitter that we have a bid of £300K accepted for Alex Pritchard. 2,5 years contract being discussed with the player now. This is a strange one, imo.

This is a strange one, imo. Especially given his last two transfer fees rumoured to be £8m (Norwich) and £11m (to Huddersfield)

There's good reasons why Pritchard will be going cheap, spends more time on the treatment table than on the pitch, and when he does play, doesn't do much.

Or those were prices paid by two prem sides looking to bolster side. Now it’s championship sides looking at him the price reflects that

I see we are rumored to be interested in Declan Gallagher from Motherwell, 29 years old tall CB and an international for Scotland. Celtic and Cardiff are also following him.

Not seen anything for him? Even when searching I just got rumours from years ago.
Not sure why we are being linked with more defenders. CB is one place that we don't need more cover.

Heard whisperings of a 2nd midfielder inbound as well as Johansen. Anyone know who it is?
