I think we as fans have a habit of over hyping players at times too, which might be a factor.
Eze has talent in abundance, but he's a very long way from the finished article. He should be working every day at improving a fair few aspects of his game.

Not sure how many of you are familiar with footballindex but he's shot up in price in the last 24 hours- that usually means there's transfer (or speculation at least) or something else significant like an international call up..or a really good recent performance?!
I don't see anything in the news?

i'd be surprised if eze left this year tbh. he started well last season but his form really dipped for the second half of the season. most clubs will keep tabs on his development next season with us before splashing the cash on him. i can't see us accepting less than 10m for him personally!

No one came in for Grielish last year so suspect your right Corbs interested parties will sit and see what second season is like

Would be lucky to get £5m plus a few add ons. Didn't exactly set the league on fire last year.

So he can't be such a useless, lazy cunt as we all thought then?

So he can't be such a useless, lazy cunt as we all thought then? Care to elaborate? I've never commented on Eze so don't get it. Did some nasty white people criticize someone who happened to be black? I'm assuming the 'lazy' quote is a race-loaded nod to the Ron Atkinson incident?

Woah Dun, why you bringing race into this?
No mention of that anywhere on this thread. And this ain't WATRB's. This site was set up cos we wanted a place to chat without agro. No need for any of that!

I think he’s lazy (but talented) and im mixed race
It was same with Adel he was lazy but when called out on it people got all upset.
Could Eze work harder? Yes he could what’s wrong with thinking that

Eze had an indifferent season on the whole.
Started off very well then appeared to lose his confidence and go right off the boil. Last game of the season vs Sheff Weds he was superb though.
Them's the bare-faced facts.

I could be wrong, but is it not possible you may have got the wrong end of the stick? It read to me as if he were pointing out that some are too quick to criticise, but I can see how it could be taken differently.

Just didn't think there was any reason to pull the race card. Wasn't aware it was connected to something said on another thread.

Yes he could what’s wrong with thinking that Have you bothered to research your statement? A languid style doesn't mean lazy by any means and he covers the ground as much as most of the others in a game. He'll never be a pacy sprinter and his habit of shadowing players with the ball instead of tackling them would be of more concern to me but he does his work in the team.

Yes I trust my eyes. I’ve seen Many players run past him and he don’t make any effort to get back or stuck in. That’s not languid it’s lazy

Lazy or defending being the weakness to his game?
I mean professional footballers don’t get to where they are by actually being ‘lazy’ surely. Isn’t it just symptomatic of an attitude problem or weaknesses that require coaching out of them?

I think he's quite lazy personally mate. My take on Eze is he's a very talented lad. But he'll never make a central midfielder at the top level with his current work rate. I also don't see him as an out and out forward or someone that is particularly effective out wide. This basically means he only fits into a 4-4-1-1 formation playing just behind a centre forward. And how many top teams play that way? He needs to work on the weak parts of his game if he's gonna get anywhere. And work rate is the first thing I'd look at.

if on a long contract, we need to be asking crazy money for him.
15-20 mil should do it.

Sometime in Nov/ Dec if their form is still as good as it is now then Players like Eze, Chair, BOS & Manning should all be put on 5 year contracts with decent buyout clauses. With residency, three of them could qualify for England and English players have a premium. We also have secured the finances we needed to avoid FFP this season and next season the £21m from 2017-18 drops out of the reckoning and things will a little less severe financially. We shouldn't need to be held to ransom over player sales going forward and can start make serious money on them like other clubs do.

Should tie Eze and Chair down on improved terms with 20 mil buy out clauses. Start getting market value rather than vultures nicking our lads.
