It's annoying because bar a couple of games we haven't been battered this season, it's the toothlessness up front that's cost us more often than not.

Just to break the form over the last 9 games down. That’s roughly a 5th of a season, on that form it equates to 90 points. From the position we were in I can’t empathise how remarkable that is. It’s not a flash in the pan, that’s over a sustained period. Wow

Beale's record Critchley's record Same points per game ratio as the rat and we were up the top end of the table. Difference is this team was dead and buried after such a dreadful start. He also had to deal with so many players low on moral and confidence, a disgruntled downbeat support and massively on the back foot. To go from that to this is genuinely mind blowing. We’ve got our man. He just seems to get it. Jobs not done but I don’t even really feel nervous about it anymore, chomping at the bit for Saturday and really excited to see what next season brings assuming we make it over the line. What a man

38% league win record. We’d have 67 points off 46 games based on his 26 league games. 38 points from 26 league games.

Its pretty incredible. Don't want to get carried away as next season Chair might be in prison, Willock might have f*cked off, JSC sold, Hayden gone, God-forbid Marti might even be poached. But you do just wonder next season if they kept the bulk of this squad together and could add a striker who scores occasionally and links play, how far we could aim. Doesn't even have to be a 20 goal a season guy, am just talking someone who gets 8-12 goals and creates some chances for others would be transformative.

Ainsworth averaged 0.57 points per game = 26 points over a season.
Marti averaging 1.46 points per game = 67 points over a season.

Ainsworth averaged 0.57 points per game = 26 points over a season. Marti averaging 1.46 points per game = 67 points over a season. And that’s after taking over a squad whose morale was rock bottom.

The defence (and defensive midfield) has been the stand-out improvement. Fans (understandably) talk about the need for a striker who can score an actual goal but the likes of Blackburn have a prolific striker and it hasn't done them a whole load of good. A really tight defence and you sometimes only need one goal, like at Swansea.

We need that striker even if he is only an 8-10 a season as long as he works the defence as well for others to benefit.

Since Marti took over, only the current top 7 have got more points than us. And we’ve gained over 10 points over the teams now below us.
