Dave Mac / West London Sport has been suspiciously quiet the last few days. what you thinking? Nothing really. Only that the club are maybe playing their cards close to their chest in terms of targets. Dave Mac only ever really seems to comment on something when he's pretty sure.

Onomah has had offers from Boro and WBA. Doubt we'll see him here.

When is the deadline? We need to bring in a striker I think. We shouldn`t really give up because Archer is staying put, should we? The scouting department doesn`t excatly cover themselves in glory if Archer is our only target and we miss out.

Andy Carroll springs to mind if this tweet is true about out of contract strikers. I mentioned andy Carroll to alanwycombe at Watford. Would not be the worst addition on short term contract, at the very least you know he gets his elbows up and challenges. Actually a good player for Dykes to learn from

Actually a good player for Dykes to learn from Did well at Reading up to winter transfer window before leaving for baggies, according to Bruce Carroll was in his best shape fitness wise for years and only let him go due to having too many strikers. He would be an upgrade on our current number 9 imo.

But surely he is more of an impact sub at his age? Can't see him starting. Assuming Archer now off the cards, it probably means having to shift Roberts into a Number 9 role or starting with Dykes.

Roberts aint a 9 though. Neither is anyone else at LR. You really couldn't make this up. We've been desperate for a striker for two fucking windows. I really hate the wankers responsible for this state of affairs ie board and DoF. There are the free agents who could be picked up at any time, although of course we haven't managed to do that either. Like Carol and Sturridge. Both 33, Sturridge better stats, both will always be different class to Dykes etc but we might as well tell it to the trees.

If there's one thing the board/DoF have done right it's reduce the wage bill, long may that continue.

If no striker coming in then surely Bonne has to stay? Looking like last season when we failed in January window and faded badly

Carroll accepted Reading’s salary offer despite them being under a transfer and wage embargo last season ?

Both 33, Sturridge better stats, both will always be different class to Dykes etc but we might as well tell it to the trees. I don't disagree with you on Roberts. All I'm saying is I think its the least bad option left to Beale. We don't necessarily need a prolific number 9 with the likes of Chair, Willock and Amos. Ideally we need a Heider Helgusson figure who would hold the ball up, bring others into play, put himself about to make space for others. Basically what we hoped Dykes would do, but hasn't really. But without a striker like that maybe we just have to go for a fluid system. When it works - as against Hull - it will be beautiful to watch. The downside is you just have no one at the near post to get that simple headed goal or tap in and there will be frustrating days when we can't get that ugly goal (as against Blackpool and Rotherham when we were crying out for someone in the six yard box).

Seeing Beale noises about not being bothered if we don't get a striker...FFS! Code for: they went all in for Archer (even tho Gerrard said at the start of the window he was part of his plans), that didn't happen and now they are left with no one.

But if Beale has no interest in playing him (and he is clearly unsettled) is there any point keeping him? Presume his wages off the books will pay for this extra midfielder we have decided is the priority.

Seeing Beale noises about not being bothered if we don't get a striker...FFS! Still nothing concrete, less than 6 hours to go. Brief debate on less/fewer and Pinter plays earlier… next topic of discussion, “Can we ‘see’ noises?”
