Interesting discussion on latest WLS podcast. Kevin Gallen and his co-presenters' views are in stark contrast to many posted here. An echo-chamber is one thing RFI isn't. Dunno, the thing they seemed to be going on about was lack of pace last year, ie the exact same thing RFI posters have been banging on about for months (ie slow transitions etc). Disclaimer: didn't listen to the whole podcast though.... Worth a listen all the way through Hal. Some interesting points made about Dykes and Bonne. (Views that would ordinarily get shot down in flames on here). Barbet leaving and Adomah staying further points to flat back four with wingbacks. And yes, lack of pace wide and upfront recognised and needs addressing.

I was surprised that he's 27. I now think we wasted our money.

It'll be interesting to see how things pan out with such a young coaching team. I'm totally behind what we are trying to do, but part of me wonders if it's gonna work. Sometimes there is a lot to be said for having a few experienced heads in a leadership team.

Who’s to say he won’t add/keep experience too, Tarbs?!

Also he’s keeping on Banfield, remember? That's TBC as far as I'm aware mate. Fair enough though, let's see what backroom team they put together. If both the Manager and Assistant are in their 30's though, it does set the stall out that they'll be going for youth over experience somewhat.

Leadership teams with loads of experience go under as well. What we do need - something which I've been banging on about for literally years - is leadership on the park. Without that heads go down awful quick when we're up against it. There seems to be a general move back towards your old fashioned skipper (Klopp has written about the importance of this). We need one out there.

Seems a level headed chap who says all the right things but I hope he does well but words are cheap. Theoretically excellent but Practically we will just have to wait and see, I will be looking for better game management, better tactics, better response to other teams changes with regard to subs, better fitness levels, better at dead ball situations both defensively and offensively. In short all the shortcomings we had under Warburton,

Penultimate para is insightful about Beale's playing style. That's the take out for me.

Excellent piece with some honesty about it. A change from the usual spin. ‘Only Barnsley with worse form than us after Jan’ - wow, hadn’t realised that. No way MW could stay. If we’re honest the jury is out on all the signings but it is sounding good and something to look forward to.

The big take out from that SJ interview for me was “he (MB) felt we were too open sometimes and it was too easy to score against us”
There were lots of games last season where the result could have gone either way as we rarely won convincingly despite dominating possession in many games.
Interesting to look at yesterdays Uxbridge FC friendly game and try to gauge which was the better selection of players for the first or second half, for me both looked balanced with the players currently available.

I loved the movement off the ball. Loafs running in behind rather than being static.

Is 3 CBs the result of Richards long term injury.I think it would suit Paal game much better.

Dunne and Dickie as a partnership don’t look solid in a back 4 imo
Both Paal and Laird on initial viewings don’t look the best in defensive areas imo.
The idea of playing 4 at the back appealed last season for an extra man in MF.
This season our fit creative MF players in Johansen and Dozzell have been poor imo.
It seems from MB interviews he’s waiting on Salter returning from injury before playing 3CBs,I don’t understand why he doesn’t play Masterson or Gubbins.
