3-5-2 or a similar formation until our key players players are fit would maybe suit the way we want to play.

i like the possibilities with 4 at the back but dunne and dickie just aren't pacey enough for it to be really reliable, plus we're set up to attack and have a high line nor do we have a proper sitter.
i mentioned before that i wouldn't mind seeing kakay in midfield. he's not done great as RB but has the legs and the effort to have a crack in midfield as a sitter.

Dunne started this season the way Dickie finished the last one. He don’t look solid at all and midweek he was in front of us looking purple in the face breathing out his Arse looked totally unfit.
He’s a fans favourite for attitude and for many one of the first names on the team sheet but when you look closely he’s involved in a lot of goals or chances conceded

Interesting that Beale said the new lad JSC is the best centre half in the division in Al’s write up. He also clearly prefers four at the back. That says to me that Dunne will be getting splinters a lot this season

Amos and salter due back October so don’t appear major injuries but none the less long enough to disrupt first team cohesion

Amos and salter due back October so don’t appear major injuries but none the less long enough to disrupt first team cohesion Actually think Amos is a really big miss for us, personally. We have so much more energy and 'snap' in the middle of the pitch when he is in there.

442 But not Dykes 4411 But not Dykes 4231 But not Dykes 352 But not Dykes. I think I would sooner play with a 'false 9' than Dykes tbh (and I bl00dy hate the whole 'false 9' thing).

I thought we’d been playing with a false 9 for a couple of years….?

3-5-2 or a similar formation until our key players players are fit would maybe suit the way we want to play. He explained his reluctance about 3 at the back. Said if the midfield isn’t top quality 3 becomes 5 and defeats the object of wingbacks. Also, to play 3 with WBs you lose a creative player or a striker and he doesn’t like doing either. As I said though, he’s not shutting the door completely - there may be games where he may use it.

Perhaps a bit simplistic to say, but only Field in MF is performing to reasonable consistent standard, albeit in unfamiliar role of trying to be box to box player.Chair is imo being employed in unnatural role as central creative MF player?
As Bill said in earlier posts if MB wants fortress mentality at home then starting with 2 striker option could be better rather than waiting until we’re behind due to a weak MF and a shaky looking defence

With everyone fully fit this is probably his strongest team (and his preferred formation judging by his interviews): Dieng
Laird Dickie JCS Paal
Amos Field
Willock Roberts Richards
ArmstrongThe unfortunate thing is he's been unable to play anything even close to this team yet.

Yes he's getting closer now James but Willock, Richards, JCS and Amos have been major losses to the start of our season. Key players that would usually be amongst the first names on the team sheet.

I would respectfully suggest both teams containing Armstrong are choices that both posters WANT rather than what MB is indicating at THIS point in time.

I didn't say it was his preferred team Sparks, just his preferred formation. Although it would appear MB is getting closer to dropping Dykes now.

I did say that in my post Sparks. Although it would appear MB is getting closer to dropping Dykes now. Yes apologies for jumping in with both feet there.🤐 Yes I agree he’s getting closer to dropping him but not fully convinced yet Stan, when he spoke about Dykes he mentioned a couple of times “We go again”
