to be fair to brighton and brentford, they're years ahead of anyone else when it comes to scouting. especially so with brighton who have the best scouting system in the world which was developed by their owner. he's poured millions into it and keeps the whole process and data top secret like its the KFC recipe. Cucarella probably paid back that investment then Caicedo and next season it will be Enciso. South Americans - cheap and good players. Didn’t Les go on holiday, sorry scouting, to Colombia? I wonder what happened there. that mitoma from japan too. they know what markets to scout and always seem to unearth good talents. i know there is some red tape when it comes to work permits but come on, we can surely do better. japan is a developing football market and are entering a golden age of players, their league is competitive but most importantly its still a very undervalued one. rather than us just only scraping the barrel of the UK market picking up tried and tested players we should also be looking to markets in scandanavia and in asia too. mitoma cost brighton 3m and now he's up there as one of their best players and in todays market is probably worth 20x what they paid for him.

I’d forgotten Dykes. Easily done. Sadly best we have as of now which speaks volumes. God help us if that’s the case

We dont need a striker his words Man is crazy Bill I’ve said the same thing for as long as I can remember. When you concede almost every game and you hardly ever score you’re going to lose a lot of games. When I moaned about a lack of a striker on the other thread people started rolling out the FFP card.
Where is that same card when we’re buying midfielders and defenders? It’s a fucking joke and we deserve all we get for such incompetence in the transfer market. It’s a shambles. Jimmy, people will try to argue that it's much harder to find good strikers but we all know that's excuse-making bollocks as other clubs in the same position as us have proved.

Jimmy, people will try to argue that it's much harder to find good strikers but we all know that's excuse-making bollocks as other clubs in the same position as us have proved. Good scouts find good players. Good scouts will find promising strikers who in 2/3/4 years time will become brilliant Championship strikers. Agreed. Genuine question: what Championship club has scouted for free on fairly modest wages (because that is our budget) a striker who has already hit the ground running this season scoring several goals (because fans are presumably asking for a striker who will score 15 plus goals this season, not some future season)? As I say, genuine question. Happy to be told other clubs have found such a lovely player.

Clarke Harris at P'Boro was mins from signing for Bristol poxy Rovers for a reported £600k - The fella scores goals.
If we're not in for semi prolific strikers at that price we may as well concede relegation now because that's fucking poor.
We all know the club is skint but as I said previously it hasn't stopped us signing players in other positions... and Taylor Richards?! How much wages is that cunt draining from the club.
Atrocious business by QPR.

Just checked.
P'Boro - 158 games - 80 goals. a goal every 2 games ffs. Same ratio as prime Charlie Austin
5 goals in 9 games this season.
Yet he's at PETERBROUGH!!!

Pukki was a free transfer a few years back on modest wages so if you scout you can find. Do not need to stay here and take a punt on a young player as lots of gems around if you are pro active and forward thinking.

Ok but 600k - did we have that to spend this close season? That's my point, if we can't find £600k when we've been absolutely crying out for a forward for what 3-4 seasons now we're finished. How much has Taylor Richards, Colback, Fox, Begovic, Cook, Cannon, Smyth cost in wages, fees, agents etc? I'd say it's well over £600k I'd rather we didn't have two of them and had a fucking striker that can score a goal. It's kind of how football works yet I'll say it again, we concede almost every game and we hardly score. Good combo eh. Great job owners.

What planet are they on?! Not planet reality, that's for sure 😂

My tuppence worth on the latest Armstrong and Dykes heated debate - I do agree Armstrong is more effective out wide than central, and Dykes more effective in the middle (than being played deep). Therefore not really fair on Armstrong to judge him as a CF when it's not his natural position; and once again Ainswrath's fault for playing him there particularly as a lone striker.

Kelman not getting a chance at all is very strange. Obviously, he is nothing special in front of goal so far, but I`m not sure he would have missed the chance Armstrong got yesterday.

And the clubs fault for not getting Ainsworth a striker to work with. How the fuck can we go into a season without a half decent striker? It’s criminal.

In fairness to club and managers every single fan had Armstrong down as a striker some thought he was ready to be starting 2seasons back and lambasted warburton for not playing him.
Kelman is odd one as he’s had few opportunities off bench but can’t really recall him getting a chance in a game to see if he takes it.
It’s shocking how poorly this department has been neglected
