Shocked he’s played 21 games for us I would have guessed at a handful.
Assuming he can’t play against us in cup

An interview with the man himself. There is clearly quite a backstory that we may well find out one day. Many factors as to why he has not been playing these last two seasons apparently. I always had a suspicion that there was some sort of legal process going on - and hence why it cannot be talked about. He does not say anything about injuries being the main reason. But clearly both parties think a new start would be for the best. He just wants to get started. He just wants to play football. He wants to enjoy football again. All very odd www.cambridgeunited.com/news/richards-signs-202425

Revealing interview even though he said nothing to explain his issues. There has clearly been something other than injuries behind his absence for us and judging by his body language in that interview with the constant ear pulling and twitching he is either a nervous wreck or just shot of confidence or shy.
Marti obviously did not see a place for him yet this season so the move makes sense - did Cambridge come in for him or Nourry tout him around? No issue either way but good that our CEO got what must be a mutually acceptable deal over the line. In Gary Monk he has a manager who, if Richards has sorted out whatever his problems were, could get his career back on track which would be good for him and maybe even good for us.
If I recall the deal we had was we took him on loan for a season with a compulsory purchase for 400k at the end of that season on a 4 year contract. Probably structured to spread his cost for FFP.
So including this season we still have him for 3 seasons with 100k per season of his transfer fee being amortised each year plus his salary. I doubt Cambridge will be paying all his cost for this season so while every little helps we are still paying for nothing. The only way we will recover any of that is if his move this season works out well for him and he either returns to us as the decent player he can be (historically) or we are able to sell him on for a couple of hundred thousand.
At the end of the day he is a human being who obviously has had his problems and I therefore hope it works out for him which may eventually help us.
I expect a few on here will disagree and think he is just lazy money grabbing - in which case he did not have to go to Cambridge.
I would put Willock in the "greedy cheat bucket" ahead of Richards. While others have wished him well his lack of effort and commitment last season and the way he has been playing club since the end of last season all I would say is Cardiff is where he deserves to be and hopefully in a relegation battle. He can always sit down and say he felt a twinge if. the going gets tough. The last thing now is that with Willock and Richards gone expect at least one winger /attacking midfielder to be on our shopping list.

Generous Robin. How about adding ‘or has something to hide’ to the list?

I would put Willock in the "greedy cheat bucket" ahead of Richards. Willock has indisputably done more for us on the park. That's all that matters.

A big positive for Richards is that hopefully this gets him away from his 'homies' in West London. His haircut seems to indicate something about taking things more seriously as well. Who knows. I just hope that he actually does kick on and rediscover his talent.

Plenty players over the years have ridiculous hair or styles we personally would not have who manage to play at good level and turn up. Cucurella has ridiculous hair and grielish wears hair band neither of those have professionalism to game questioned.

Back to Lyndon Came on the 74th minute as a sub - First action was to give away a foul. Won a free kick on the wing and had an attempted header blocked. That's about all . Sound familiar. Meanwhile Willock hooked again - heading rapidly for the Adel Hall of fame, great talent no brain. Richards didn't even make Cambridge's bench. Dozzell subbed after 60 mins Armstrong hooked after 62 Richards is injured again I believe. Well, "injured".

Sometime ago someone, I think it was Westy, asked the question ‘apart from Eze has anyone left us and gone on to be a better player elsewhere in recent times?’ That does raise some interesting points.

Robinson is a twat but he’s played in premier league since he stabbed us in the back. Dieng, Dickie, Manning have not progressed but have remained at same level. Of course you are excluding Tod Kane who has won 3 champions leagues and 3 ballon d’ors for Madrid since he left us.

BOS.. won the Turkish cup with Fenerbahçe and is now a full Nigerian international
Manning left Swansea on a free, fair play to him as he refused to sign an extension with us while BOS was playing silly buggers with us

Taylor Richards is all what is wrong with modern day football and the youth system he came through. Overflated ego due to where he started out and just robbed a living club after club
