The article also states that Warbs was advised to bring in a striker but wasn’t keen. Which again makes it difficult to understand why sine fans are blaming Les. Because it's his fucking job to run the shop market wise. Too bad if the manager aint keen, Warburton knew all along that we had a dof. If no one pays any attention to Les anhyway, it gives us even more reason to get rid. Which goes back to the point i made previously. Generally, when it comes to transfers, a DOF’s role is to listen to the manager in terms of what he wants. Then do the ground work in seeing who’s available and at what price. Allowing the manager to focus on coaching etc. That’s the theory behind it anyway. So, if Warbs stated he didn’t want a striker, who’s fault is it we didn’t get one. If you think Les should have ignored him and got one in anyway, there would been untold complaints from fans about Les overstepping the mark and interfering beyond his remit.

but Norwich don’t invest that’s why they go straight back down after every promotion. They collect the money and just ensure there better then other championship clubs for the following season. Not a bad strategy if you have set of fans that will accept that Most championship clubs of similar size would accept that, I'd have thought, if the alternative is treading water in Championship mid-table mediocrity? Most QPR fans would accept it I'm sure. Indeed for many it's an ambition as it would be progress from where we've been for the last 7-8 years. I'd certainly take that. Silverware every couple of years and pocketing bags of money to keep us financially stable? Yeah I'd take that.

I agree Itso it doesn't really make sense to blame Les for that. Some fans seem to think the DoF should overrule the manager in such a circumstance but that would be a breach of both their remits. i don't think Dave McIntyre is one to shit-stir for the sake of it. It's more than his reputation is worth. Yet he makes it very clear there was trouble at mill. That was the interesting aspect of the article imo. Fair assumption Stan. I agree, it’s difficult to imagine a happy ship existed given our implode last season. As for who’s to blame, anyones guess. What did seem apparent from Warburtons tenure was he comes across as a very stubborn individual.

How can a DOF impose a style of play and general ethos of the club if the manager can ignore or overrule him? That doesn’t make sense.

Are we willing to accept midtable mediocrity after the promise of last season? Before anyone spouts it's early,it's just a question. And good question btw Well you can see by my posts that im not happy with mid table Not after 8 yrs in the wilderness I only want a team to challenge the championship top 6 Not prem not greedy just challenge top 6 Who knows maybe we will this year but cant see it personally

How can a DOF impose a style of play and general ethos of the club if the manager can ignore or overrule him? That doesn’t make sense. Here’s a scenario, although I’m not saying it’s gospel. Warbs doesn’t want a striker, despite Les saying we need one. Les has a decision to make, force it on Warbs, knowing that ultimately it’s Warbs that picks the team, in which case Warbs could refuse to play said striker, being the obtuse character that he is. Les knows this as he’s not stupid, so decides the best course of action is to bide his time and call it a day with the manager at the end of the season. Makes sense doesn’t it. Like I said, only a few people really know the background to it all, but plenty are making assumptions.

I agree Itso, gave him the rope to hang himself. Not the way to run a club tho. We’ll never know the truth but no one can deny things were very odd from Jan, and no smoke etc.

But at the end of the day, if it was obvious we needed a striker and Warbs wouldn’t get onboard with it, was what Les did wrong? If so, what other option did he have.

Just confuses me even more as to why you need a DOF then. Should have a scouting network and directors can decide if they can afford a player. Ramsey oversees training staff and coaches - or what does he do as Technical Director?

We haven't lost that many decent players so we should be challenging top 6.
Personally find it more important to be going to watch an exciting team that takes the game to opponents than to worry about promotion. Get that right and the top 6 goes hand in hand.

Love your attitude optimism but if our owners pull the plug we will suffer. This is why promotion for me is so important.
