if the report is true it also looks as if we are returning to three in defence - yet another Beale U turn.
He started out on a completely new strategy - which I actually quite respected - and pretty much every single one of those decisions are being reversed.
Its basically back to Warbs.

Its basically back to Warbs. i feel like beale has a higher ceiling and more room to adapt than warbs tbh. if we're being honest, warbs was the best manager we've had since warnock. he just took us as far as he could and moving him on was the right decision and if beale can improve on what warbs did then thats a big positive

Good to be able to play 2 formations.
Warburton not being able to change cost us. Playing 352 without any wing backs was daft. Made us so predictable as well.

Not really going against what he's said. Always said that he wants to be flexible.
All other singings are young. He's giving Armstrong game time.

One thing I don’t get.
This guy has basically been unemployed since leaving Glasgow Rs at the end of last season, correct?
Beale says he has been trying to sign him all summer, so what was going on all that time?
And why hasn’t he at least been training with us or another club so he has a pre season? Now he will prob take a couple of months to get match fit - and all on our wages.

Strange signing given our priorities for shoring up the squad lie elsewhere.

Two appearances - Two clean sheets! No coincidence IMO.
Particularly significant as it's our first two of the season.
Just imagine a Balogun / JCS combo. Would make us even stronger.
Dickie / Dunne combo not cutting it in a back 4 IMO.

I thought Dunne and Balogun excellent yesterday. Dunne ei everything in the air and Balogun often went unnoticed, which is the greatest compliment.

Seemed very assured and calm. What also noticed is his strength when he got body in front of man he stayed in front was not getting pushed off rolled like you so stinks see with Dunne or Dickies

Hold my hand up was wrong to complain about this signing he has brought some much needed calm to our defence.
However can’t see him being first choice as our whole strategy is to develop players and put them in the shop window - that means two of JSC, Dickie and Dunne need to start.

I think Balogun will start, alongside one or two of JSC, Dickie and Dunne - depending if we play with 2 or 3 CBs.
JSC will also be nailed on when fit. So him, Balogun and either Dickie or Dunne when playing three.
The 'strategy' will be a healthy blend of youth and experience.
IMO.

Let’s wait and see - personally can’t see it, Beale has said the other centre halves don’t need nursing (tho he does have a history of changing his mind). The bottom line is we have to sell at least one player this year and we have to get some in the shop window

IMO. agree people get too hung up on strategy and development of players. Ultimate intention is to win games ideally with 4/5 young plays who could grow into being a money maker. Bit of experience could make the assets worth even more.

Hold my hand up I was wrong on this guy, what a signing and credit to Beale for landing him.
Whereas last season we had a very stable back three I can see a lot of rotation this season, particularly as he is 34 with (I believe) a history of injuries.
The only issue is he is almost too good: as long as he is rested regularly - would be surprised if he started against Reading - he is making himself first choice. This is tricky as our whole business model is to develop players and sell them on and if we want to keep the likes of Willock it does mean we will have to sell players like a centre half or two. And to get decent money for them they need to be playing. When we do play two centre halves, if Balogun is often one of them, that leaves JSC, Dunne and Dickie fighting over one place.
Appreciate in many ways this is a (cliche alert) nice problem to have, but running a football club is not only about results and his brilliant performances to date do create a challenge.

Unless we're playing with a back 5: When Beale changed it to 5 at the back it was just a wall of blue and white they couldn't penetrate. First time this season he's done that too, which just further proves his and the team's flexibility and comfort in adapting to what's need during a game and/or to close it out.

JCS offers something neither of them have and thats his pace at the back. he was excellent at bristol imo. i feel like dickie is arguebly 4th choice now simply based on form and his recent injury.
