Local info for those coming to Ashton Gate, from a Bristol City fan
Please buy your tickets in advance as there will be NO PAY ON THE DAY and this will NOT be changed A shame that a very few trains will be running, you could have helped us push up the footfall at Parson street. It seems that you will be able to get to Bristol,BUT there will be no return trains. Split tickets are available and also group save is available Suggest you make a weekend of it and stay Saturday night in Bristol If there are at least three of you arriving by train get a taxi Make sure the taxi driver drops you in the Ashton Road end as it a very long walk round from the other end
Coming by road. Do NOT USE M4/M32 route and don't try to negotiate the roads and streets of Bristol YOU WILL GET LOST If you are coming by road use M4/M5 southbound to junction 18(Avonmouth) then follow signs A4 Bristol airport It looks the long way round but its quicker. Parking is normally in the streets around the area as long as you are there by 10:30am please don't block drive ways. There are loads of road construction works going on,I predict chaos around the ground area after the game Sainsburys is near by
Casualty and Holby City were filmed in the City don't ask me about either of the programmes cos I think their both rubbish The young ones was also filmed in the BS7 area of the City(actually its Bishopston) Finally the block of flats on the left behind the dolman stand side as you are in the away end is "the" block of flats in "fools and horses" Bring your camera and turn up early if you want to take any photo's Pubs possibly best one are in the cumberland road basin area novia scotia pump house and the cottage. PROGRAMMES PROGRAMMES PROGRAMMES no programmes are printed but are available on line FREE OF CHARGE from approx thursday evening If you would like a hard paper copy of the programme Let me know BBC Radio station is radio Bristol which has frequencies and 94:9 and DAB (and 95:5 up till 3pm), and the match commentary it will be on BBC radio Bristol DAB. Pubs: best ones are along the Cumberland Roads area, suggest park your car and then walk to the ground. Please circulate to any other football forums and footy fans you may deem fit If you need any further info, don't be afraid to ask

What's a Gashead giving info about Brizzle City for? I think he's just trying to be a helpful Bristolian. He did the same last season: rfantasyisland.boards.net/post/91113/threadAnd was probably happy that we beat them last time round, I should add.

much appreciated gas, i'm driving there so this is valuable info for me! do you know what side street is the best for parking? i was originally hoping we'd beat you guys 3-0 but due to your generous travel info i'm hoping that its a 4-1 win instead with you guys scoring first so you can get some enjoyment

It's ok Corbs, he's on our side. A Rovers fan going by the handle...or possible British Gas employee! 😀

JCS and Dickie fit in time for the game according to Beale.
Got a big decision to make now.
Do we go with a three or a two at the back? He hinted at doing that on the last podcast.
Who makes way?
Can't drop Balogun un current form IMO, so it's him and JCS if a two or with Dickie with a three.
But that's harsh on Dunne who's not let us down and can pop up with a goal.
Great problem to have!
(Prediction poll now added)

i don't think the back 4 need to be changed just yet, especially considering JCS and dickie are only just back. hopefully dunne steps it up though as i do feel like he's been slightly sloppy at times.
otherwise i'd go for a 4231. dieng laird dunne balogun paal field stef chair roberts willock armstrong
i doubt it'll be that lineup given dykes has been in good form for scotland but beale recently said that armstrong is a full first teamer now and has 5 in 2 for the u23s so his confidence will be running high.
bit nervous about bristol though as they're the highest scorers this season with 19 goals. if amos was fully fit then i'd be happy with a 4321.

No Armstrong, out with a thigh injury - just after he'd been doing so well!

Doesn’t sound serious though. Just a minor collision. Should be back for Sheffield or Fakes.

Beale's beard has turned grey - effect of managing QPR!
Dickie not back in training "till tomorrow" he said (not sure when it was filmed but prob means he is not available for the weekend match). If City have scored 19 goals wonder if this is a game to play three along the back with JSC coming in.
I would go:
Senny Laird-Balagun-Dunne-JSC-Paal Stef-Field Willock-Chair Dykes (Roberts to come off the bench)

I’ve always found parking Aston pretty decent Corbs. Usually park ststion side of the ground on the river 5miin walk away and wander in. If there early enough head to the cricket club

Pearson will be well aware of the danger that Willick and Chair are and will man mark both of them
Will be a tight game this come on Rs
Hope Nacki is on the bench for a bit

Seems very harsh to drop Dunne in preference to Salter considering the last 2 games have been clean sheets.
Can anybody honestly rate Salter as a very good centre back without MB previously saying he is ? He wasn’t a stand out player at Coventry last season for me.
Although I’ve seen very little of Salter previously my initial impression of him is he looks timid and could get bullied by a big Championship centre forward,

Well he's been right about Paal, Balogun, Laird and (to a certain extent) Iro. So he has built up some credit in the bank in terms of trusting his judgement. Therefore if he says JCS will be one of the best CBs in the division I'll take than on board. Not to mention we're 6th in the table and he has us playing some lovely football, notwithstanding several key players having been out and only just starting to return.

Yes, I would agree that MB has an exceptionally good eye with spotting players talent Stan so would trust his judgement on Salter. For me I would like to see Salter first earn his place by being introduced as sub or as part of a 3 CB system, but will admit to being slightly biased towards Dunne due to his undoubted commitment on the pitch.
