Feels a little bit too much like excuses. I get key players being out can disrupt but does that stop you running and moving ball quickly?

Took the words out of my mouth and also we’re not the only side that gets injuries. Not all teams form plummets. I think it’s a combination of being found out a little bit. Stop Chair / Willock or Laird down the side and you have a chance and also player’s performances have dropped rapidly.

Why have we become so slow and lethargic looking? According to Beale in his post-match comments it's at least partly down to a combination of injuries to key players in an already thinnish squad, IOW roughly 15 key players but we're thin on the ground beyond that (e.g. bringing on Bonne and Shodipo is clearly not the answer when losing a game). So this, combined with a congested fixture schedule. Therefore the difference between poor November and successful October is we had more of our key players fit and available, and by that stage the legginess hadn't caught up with them in what is an overall thin squad. Hmmmm. As above!

I get key players being out can disrupt but does that stop you running and moving ball quickly? That would certainly be part of it, no doubt.

we’re not the only side that gets injuries. Most squads in the top eight have more overall strength in depth though, don't they? As do likes of the now emerging WBA and Boro? Not all teams form plummets. Norwich and Sheff Utd had their own poor runs too. We're having ours now. Time will tell if this is any different, right? Break has come at a good time maybe to regroup and get key players back and fit, then see what business we can do in January...

Feels a little bit too much like excuses. I get key players being out can disrupt but does that stop you running and moving ball quickly? No it doesn't and that has been really disappointing. In defence I would just add that playing Dykes at 9 really fucks up our distribution from further back. As has been said many times we've been at our most dynamic playing a front 3 without a 9. That plan got scuppered by Richards / Roberts / Willock injuries. The only other option is playing Dykes as a two but that aint problem free either, you'd need a someone really sharp to play off him, if you chance Bonne then you're leaving out one of the AMFs. All of these problems are legacy of really poor calls in the market. But then Mick knew all this when he came and it's his job to get the show back on the road.

Not everything which goes wrong is dykes fault. Plenty going on behind him that needs addressing
