What do we need to get to the Premier League again and become the club that we used to be if at all possible.
I think we need the below personally as a strict minimum to start to get back to where we once were.
A/ Keep ALL players in January.
B/ Recruit 3 experienced players Defender / Midfielder / Striker
C/ Good manager appointment
I believe that if we undertook all of the above we would be in the Top 6 teams at the end of the season minimum.
If players are going they need to go at the end of the season end of story.
We are treading water atm A/ We can control this one B/ use the 1.5 million compensation to buy 3 good players C/ Employ a good manager.

If we did all of the above, we'd almost certainly contravene FFP. If we kept it minimalist, and actually got up, then both factors would massively mitigate any sanction under EFL's own FFP regs.
The risk we can't take is riding roughshod ie Derby etc.
You have to be street smart if you want to run a football club. Maybe for some reason we don't know, they're happy just loosing money every year.

My opening post is the way forward if we are to challenge Otherwise its 8/10th place again folks
Again if you want success you need to make it happen
The club is being run very well atm but it does need a bit Of investment do you think forest / bournmouth / fulham Would sell any of their best players in january
No chance we need 3 experienced pros to make play offs
And a decent manager

Gotta be honest Gens, we are getting to the time where we need to think about selling Willock. He's only got 18 months left. We'll get our pants pulled down if we ain't starting to engage with suitors this window.

I get that Tarbs but this will be at the expense Of possible going up again for another year It just weakens the squad at a critical time again

Expel the London, Manchester and Liverpool Reds, Whites and Blues and reconstitute the entire Football League.

What we need is a young coach, he needs to be fully committed and focused on his first management job. He will need morals integrity and be honest. Job done🤨

It will also be interesting to know how the £1.5m will / has been invested.

Putters, as I call it. Love the stretch along the river and the common. Have a soft spot for the Lower Richmond Road from childhood and adolescence - got my first racing bike from Holdsworths, I think my dad got a discount as he was well known in the cycle racing community, is it still there? Used to go to the Brick to score as a yoof. Can't stand the high street though, never ever driven through there when it wasn't one long traffic jam.
Anyway, what was this thread about?

The Bournemouth model is an interesting one.
Very low crowds, never have a high profile manager yet they seem to perform very highly.
They have had stints in the Championship of course but even then they are always challenging at the top of the table.

That’s cos they gamble a throw money at it to achieve it, then do right recruiting

That’s cos they gamble a throw money at it to achieve it, then do right recruiting If that's the case then how come they don't fall foul of FFP and P&S rules? Yes I understand it's offset by EPL and media rights income but it's still a big gamble. Does that make their owners any less fiscally responsible and prudent then ours? Does it make them any more or less ambitious than ours? If theirs is the blueprint then what are we doing to emulate it, being that we are similar sized clubs; or arguably QPR is even bigger due to our history and size of fanbase.

Look at how much they spent? They deff over spent but stayed up long enough to mitigate and shuffle it about.

I think it shows their owners are a lot more clued up than ours. Whether that be in player recruitment, manager choices or just good luck I really don't know. For a club averaging 11,000 it's actually unbelievable what they've done tbh.

Think about these few transfers.
Calum Wilson - Bought for £3m - Sold for £22M
Aaron Ramsdale - Bought for £980k - Sold for £20.5m
Matt Ritchie - Bought for £480k - Sold for £12m
Tyrone Mings - Bought for £11.3m - Sold for £22.3m
Nathan Ake - Bought for £22m - Sold for £45m
Unreal business

Look at Jan last season, they was like us in with a chance of promotion. Their owners splashed cash to nigh on make it happen. We took the cautious and bombed
