Nothing at all wrong with a long ball if it's accurate and not aimless! Good passing teams mix it up by going long AND short. Is it fair to blame Gareth for that with a team decimated by loss of form and injuries? Another reasonable question to ask is could ANY manager have got a tune out of these players? And for the record, I was always in the keep Critchley camp. Exactly Stan. The system we play is a red herring. If defenders can’t send a ball relatively accurately up the pitch and an attacker win one in every handful of them, is that the managers fault. When people say play to our strengths what does that mean in practice. Asking our defence whose confidence is shot to bits, to play across and out from the back to makeshift midfielders who will most likely give it straight back to them? Personally I think we need to simplify things to have any chance of getting the points needed. Not hark back to the days when we had a more robust defence and a more creative midfield. In that respect GA is probably playing to our strengths, as we would be even more shite with the alternative approach.

But we play long ball currently with no one around the man it’s aimed at for the second ball or to run beyond for flick on. What’s point of that as a game plan as we’re just giving the ball straight back hence the Constant pressure we’re under.
Only West Brom did we get amongst it for the second ball and it showed and paid off.

in times like this we should really be looking to the youth to give us something different, a bit of enthusiasm if nothing else!
right now nothing is working so we have to change it up as we see the same mistakes every game from every player. dickie and dunne as we know are an abysmal partnership, on their day i rate them as very good defenders but they've got to be up there as one of the worst pairings we've ever had.
up top dykes rarely wins flick ons and is out of position more often than not whilst martin - who has been solid - is regretably a bit old and past his best. so if thats the way we want to play why not bring that kargbo in for a game or two? he's 6'5, built like a shithouse, on a bit of rich form for the B team and from what i've seen pretty good at winning and holding the ball up.
now i'm not saying the youth team are full of messiah's but we're so shit and so devoid of ideas that i think its the only recourse we actually have.

I don't think Ainsworth has a scooby. Look at how he set the team up against Coventry: Dunne at right back while Laird was on the bench, in a 4-4-2 with just one holding/defensive midfielder, a ghost, a 35 year old on the right and our sole creative player on the left and two lumps up top, one practically a pensioner. I mean come on, absolutely the first thing has to be keep it tight at the back, don't concede, build on that. That team and formation had no chance.
Whatever happens at the end of the season, Ainsworth has to go.

What’s point of that as a game plan as we’re just giving the ball straight back hence the Constant pressure we’re under. Only West Brom did we get amongst it for the second ball and it showed and paid off. That’s what makes it all the more frustrating. But I can’t imagine for one minute that GA hasn’t given the team the correct instructions on what to do. Once the players cross the line they have to take responsibility. Even Arteta was complaining after yesterdays draw with WH that his players didn’t do what they’d been drilled to do, it happens to the best. Are our players choosing to ignore him, I’m not so sure. Comes across to me that some of them just aren’t up to it. Made even harder by no proper leader on the pitch who’s willing and able to give it out to some of the other players and for them to respect that feedback. Better still a couple of leaders like we had with Hill and Derry. That way it’s not just the majority against one. What we have is a team made up of sicknotes, some pussies and league one players, in amongst a few players who have the right mentality but have lost their way due to the managerial shenanigans we’ve been through. Can a new manager at this stage really affect that, they would have to be very special imo and we are not a club at present that’s attractive enough for that type of manager.

A very worrying statement from him indeed. Especially when Bonner played well and got praise from the same GA.

Don’t think he’s thick but I do think he’s a rabbit caught in the headlights. Essentially the same thing

Previous managers have deemed our youngsters to be unprepared for championship football and that’s when we’ve been mid table or above. Why would they be good enough when we are in a relegation battle when the stakes are higher with fans baying for blood and every mistake seized up. Over the years player after player has said how damaging it can be to be part of a relegated team. I imagine GA sees them as the future and doesn’t want their introduction to first team football to be such a negative one. Of course it could be argued they’re being mollycoddled but the bigger argument is, are they capable of changing the outcome this season. Good luck answering that one.

I would guess Ainsworth style is similar to Valerien Ishmael’s team when he was at Barnsley, get the ball any way you can into opposition half and try to create from there. Everything was done at 100mph and he made full use of all his subs, that’s fine if you have players that buy into it and have high fitness levels but ours don’t imo.
It proved successful in that it got them to the playoffs but when he was poached to manage WBA their players didn’t take to it and he was sacked quickly.

I still rate all the players that Beale brought in, it’s unfortunate that some have been unable to be stay fit but would concede that they are not suited to Ainsworth style of football.

Tim and Paal good signings, Richards, Roberts, the invisible man Salter have been duds and Balogan has been ok just not played enough. Laird is the one that baffles me as he is a United player so sulking and chucking it mid season is not the done thing at that club.

Yeah I've no doubt it's his decision, the bloke is a complete dinosaur in management and shouldn't be anywhere near the club. Hopefully he won't be here much longer,as can't face watching this hoofball next season, regardless of what division we end up in.

Reality check folks. Blaming Gareth Ainsworth here is like using an elastoplast instead of a tourniquet to stem life-threatening external bleeding.
Again, the problem at QPR is a top-down systemic one that begins with totally clueless and incompetent owners. When you have a problem like that, what's happened with us has been an absolute inevitability, flowing from the boardroom, through the CEO, DOF, coaches, medical staff and right down to the players at pitch level.

Don't fall into that trap.
