Don't think he is making excuses, because ultimately he points the finger at himself, which is commendable, imo. Yep. He’s clearly trying to divert the pressure away from the players which makes sense. Their confidence will be shot to bits after that drubbing and as awful as the players were, it’s about trying to get something out of the next game.

The Blackpool game came too soon. Simple as that really. I think the players were emotionally drained from Saturday, let along physically drained. They'll have had a chance to lick their wounds and GA has had a chance to see the mistakes he made against Blackpool. I think a draw is entirely possible and a win is too.

We need to stop the goals first and pack the midfield and defence
4-4-2
Stop the goals is the main priority we are leaking like a sieve
Johanson / Richards / Field / Amos we need more experience to get us out of this shit also Chair

For the first time this season don't have a clue what the starting XI could be. Maybe:
Dieng Dickie Dunne Field Laird Richards Johansen Dozzell Kakay Dykes Martin

Ainsworth, talking about the team:
I think they are - downwards!
Juninho Bacuna is back for Brum, nicely rested after serving a two-match ban - and Eustace is going to really fired up against us, having been spurned for the job here.
It's going to be a hard game - expecting plenty of yellow cards and maybe a red or two.

I detect irony but I can't do irony post Blackpool. They are professionals, well paid ones. If they were emotionally drained after putting one single 90m shift for the first time in ages they shouldn't be in this job at all.FWIW it wouldn't surprise me if they did consent to turn up vs Brum but they should be doing that anyway. As a matter of course.

As a matter of course. No, there was no irony in my post, Hal. That wasn't just a 90+ minute shift - that was one humungous turnaround from months of abject negativity. The players had completely lost direction after the Eel's departure and confidence had plummeted; the results speak for themselves. For Ainsworth to turn it around in a couple of weeks was a near miracle, and the effort the players put in to achieve that win over Watford was exceptional, in the circumstances. The level of intensity it required clearly took it's toll. These are human beings, we're talking about after all, not automatons. That's why I think no matter what team or formation Ainsworth palyed v Blackpool, it was just too soon. However now is a chance to steady the ship again. They know what it takes to win at home again, it is achievable.

Watched Gareth’s interview cant see too much wrong with that. Dare I say had the same things been said by the manager 6/7 months ago everyone would be saying how honest it was and refreshing.

Hope for a win but can't see anything other than a defeat by a couple of goals.
I feel for Gareth Having to fashion a team that seems to have as much courage in the face of adversity as Frankie Abbot hanging on to his old Ma's Apron strings when the school nurse turns up with the nit comb and a Vitamn C depository.
Be nice to get a win if only tO give some respite to The QPR Twitter account team who would have Chemical Ali's public enlightenment division weeping wth pride after every sundry thrashing.
I'd like a win for the QPR fans making the effort going today in W12 in the pissing rain and having watched a prolonged diet of bengal famine mixture football a typhus ridden rat would throw up.
I can't be there today lads but i'm with you in spirit by having me plates up on the repo Louis XI pouf and watching the willy Russell 'One summer' box set with a few Munchen Pilsners.

Disco, I'm afraid Please Sir! and One Summer totally passed me by so didn't resonate with these cultural references. The Six Million Dollar Man and The Likely Lads were more my influences in those days. Great post though, as ever!
