Warburton “looking after the ball” Beale “taking care of the ball” Ainsworth “ fuck the ball” I suspects GA’s tactics reflected the situation we were in with morale, form etc. He identified how often we conceded whilst in possession and tactics changed to counteract that. He definitely deserves a pre season and until Christmas before we judge too harshly.

Ok guys, let's clear up a few facts regarding his possession stats:
He averaged 50% possession for his first 9 games
Our last 3 games in which we drew 1 and won 2 his possession average decreased to 25%
Further, the game with his highest amount of possession was 60%, which interestingly was the 1-6 mauling to Blackpool.
Note too that he's said in interviews he was well aware of the problem and sought to address it by changing his approach. And we've seen clear evidence of that in the last three games in which he has sacrificed possession to achieve 2 wins and 1 draw.

Why? What better opportunity - dead rubber game.
In fact no one is expecting a 'dramatic' change, but I think all of us what would like to see some modifications to the template, ie linked up transitions vs ball in orbit.

Think that can wait until pre season. No point in changing formation and game plan for one dead rubber game at the end of the season, doing so would probably end up with a loss. Its better to wait until the players are in to play the system and have a full preseason to make sure it clicks.

All he has to do in change his 442 into 442d and fine any fucker who sticks it in the back row when not under pressure. Next season starts now.

tbh i'd be happy with an all or nothing type of game even if we lose like 4-3 or something. i just want to see a shed load of goals lol

I would sadly get rid. His style of football is grotesque. No half decent player would want to sign up to this type of football, and also, because of the way we play, giving up 80% possession of the ball per match, the players we currently have will be devalued. There is no progress to be made here. I’m sorry ainsworth but thanks for keeping us up. I’m with u, he done a job, a poor job overall. We not going to be ripping up any trees if he stays. He already downplaying next season expectations ffs

He now has time to get his squad together
Adjust the way we play
Full pre season in place
Then and only then can we judge him after 15
Games time will tell hope he works

The more I think about it something that hasn’t been mentioned is how GA has been limited by the fact we have no width. As far back as Mclaren we haven’t had two competent WINGERS at the club at the same time. Not a single manager since has bought or sought to play wingers.
This really limits tactics that can be employed. It certainly doesnt work well playing our wealth of no 10s in that position.
Any manager without a window is strangled by our recent history of not addressing our lack of width.
I’m sure we will see a couple signed before we kick off next season.

I think if you play a straight, old skool 4-4-2 without a co-ordinated press you're just gonna be under the cosh for 75 of the 90. That's what we've been seeing.
I just don't think that model is in any way sustainable over a season.
However, if he can adapt it - as previously suggested - then fair enough. Personally I need to see some evidence of that, starting on Saturday.

Injuries have ruined it for three managers, that`s why whoever comes in has to build his own team/squad.

Absolutely deserves a chance to show what he can do with a squad of players he's selected and had a pre-season with. Worries me a bit how many fans are on his back already though. Yes, it hasn't been pretty but make no mistake, we were on our way to league one without his intervention. Clearly we won't be playing a particularly expansive style of football with him at the helm, but perhaps it's what we need. Personally I think we've persevered long enough trying to play silky football with the standard of players at our disposal. I think Ainsworth will find the right balance in terms of finding a way to be relatively successful with the calibre of players we can afford. I think Critchley would have kept us up. He should have been given more games especially against those poorer teams in our league. GA had those games and lost them all. Maybe I’m getting too old but I don’t want to see a qpr side play long ball and be happy with 20% of possession against sides in this league. We’re qpr not the Dog & Duck. We’re playing Stoke, Rotherham not Man City. I want a progressive manager who can develop our young players. I don’t mean to sound grumpy. I’m delighted we stayed up but I just don’t think GA is man for the job. Not sure I agree Critchley would have kept us up. The guy was a drip. Totally the wrong type of character for a dog fight, as good as his credentials were. As much as was behind his appointment at the time, with the benefit of hindsight, it was a mistake.

Yeah I also got frustrated with his post match and pre match talk. But then looking back on it, are we really judging him by the way he spoke? Coaching career started at Liverpool, then took Blackpool up and then kept them up comfortably. Look at Blackpool now. His record in 10 games were same as Ainsworths and he played better sides.

Next season will be a fight to stay up as it stands now. Few tweaks and be comfortable top 12-8.

To be honest
Ainsworth has saved the owners pelters
They need to wake up and get it sorted
Because it was total shit season no excuses
We need leaders all over the park
Proper captain
Proper Spine in the team

Voted no, and yesterday did not change my mind. However I think we should give him transfer window (if there is any) and 2-3 months of the next season to see where we stand as this DOF and Board would most likely only sign even worse alternative.

He aint the right man, that's evidently clear to most. Ideal scenario was he came in short term, he got his swan song yesterday we all said thank you very much for ensuring we survived, now be on your way. However he clearly wasn't going to walk away from what he had at Wycombe for a short term deal, hence we've thrown our lot in with him & given him a 3 year deal, so regardless what we all think he is staying.
Got us 2 massive away wins against the odds, but lets be honest having 19% possession over a 90 min football match is horrendous. When you've nicked a result it's forgotten about / irrelevant, but playing that football & not winning - the crowd will very soon turn.
I fear it'll be a hard few months at the start of next year and he won't see Christmas, but I will reserve judgement until he has had the summer to stamp his authority on the side and see how we start, hoping the aforementioned scenario is miles off and he is a roaring success.

Just can’t bring myself to vote on this one.
Heart telling me he absolutely deserves a pre season and a window to try and sort this mess out. He walked into a club with 1 win in 20 games ffs.
Alex Ferguson wouldn’t have sorted this mess out.
Problem I have is my head is telling me and I know he’s not the right man for the job. Style wise, tactics wise etc.
I kind of know it’s gonna be shit but feel he deserves a chance if that makes any fucking sense 🤦🏻♂️😂

I don't believe it's a foregone conclusion (like others do) that we'll be in a relegation battle with Gareth at the helm.

Time to stop the managerial merry go round. GA deserves a shot and should be out the door only if we are bottom 6 at Christmas
