If ever a game changed because of a Red card it was today. We were competitive until that point but was rearguard after that. Not how I would have set up but they just passed round us. Personally if we’re ten men I would always go 351 and try and pack midfield making it hard. Clarke took Smyth to the cleaners. Whilst we have honest players now they don’t seem very smart and able to work out what to do during the game. Smyth perfect example all Clarke wanted to do was cut in on his right and at no point did Smyth clock on to showing him down the line. Onwards to Tuesday. Agree completely and Ainsworth's tactical naivety was once again shown up, like it was at Watford. Colback is smart and had he stayed on the pitch I imagine he'd have been in Smyth's ear about that. But again, why wasn't Ainsworth or Dobson? Or the experienced Cook for that matter. Bulk of blame goes to the ref though IMO for that non-red. And Colback too for giving him a decision to make.

This. A bloke near me was on his feet screaming at Smyth, "he's only got a right foot". Showed him inside everytime. Ain't the kid's fault. Never played RWB until recently. What is Gareth doing not telling him? Not having someone in front of him? Like pushing Smyth in front of Kakay when Jack went off. Certainly at half time. Amateur hour.

Getting tired of his smiling face after a loss and the constant "the boys tried hard" and "we'll show you" bollocks.

It’s minor but one thing which bugged me earlier was the change of ball.
The ball went flat but their player just stopped playing picked it up and threw it to ref without him whistling. That’s fucking handball.
If balls flat kick it out or gesture to the ref so he can stop the game you can’t just pick it up.
What’s to stop any player picking it up in tight situation saying it feels flat.

Tbf Clarke definitely has a left foot. I saw him stick two or three decent balls into the box on his left second half.

one of those games, i'm afraid.players tried and didn't drop their heads which is something gaz can be given credit for. however i think the game management after the sending off was awful. sunderland are a good side but we invited far too much pressure and gave them too many opportunities to score.
as westy said, we should have packed the midfield as that was an area sunderland were winning. JCS should have come on earlier as his pace would have made up for the 3 man backline.

How he could not see everything wad going through Pritchard and try to stop that is unreal. Not good from the sode of the pitch and while the red card hurt us so did the lack of coaching from the bench.

2 banks of 4 is the only way to play and have wingers willing to bust a gut to support the striker.
Shame, as we looked good before the card, pressing high and on top.

11 v 11 we would have mullered Sunderland but after that red card it was all over.
We simply don't have the players to defend for 80 minutes with one man down.....lets face it, we struggle to keep clean sheets with 11 in almost every game.

Quick question.
I was on the wall just down from the springbok on Saturday, sipping a bottle of beer. While on phone to mrs, a midget Sargent and two other police were walking by. The midget started pointing at me and muttered something to the other two. I then swiftly cut my mrs off and shouted what’s the problem at him but he just walked off.
One of the other two then told me there are restrictions in place along the whole of South Africa road and that public drinking on the road is not allowed, apparently there are signs all along the road according to him.
I explained to him that every home game, for the past 10 years, I have sat on this wall, with my son while he has a Pepsi and I have a beer and we talk about the game ahead without ever a problem.
The copper acknowledged that we were absolutely fine and we were of no consequence of their police operation. I then told them that their Sargent was an ignorant prick because he did not have the decency to convey his issue with me but left it to them to deal with. TBf, the copper laughed and called him a jobs worth. He told me to finish my drink and walked off, to which I did after I took my time.
Anyway, was the police correct? Are there alcohol restrictions in place with signs, along South Africa road.
If so, how long has this been in place and how come they can bring in that banning order along a public highway. Also, if that’s the case, how come the pub can sell alcohol and the off-licence on the corner.

The world is full of mini Hitlers. All coppers are bastards. The logic re the pub and shop is a good point but does not apply in this upside down world.

Surely they meant the drinking of alcohol in public pathway not the sale of alcohol that makes no sense.
I’ve seen Then taking cans of people walking up Uxbridge road drinking plenty times but they usually groups of lads.

There was a group of plod standing inside the ground at Ellerslie. The bit after the main entrance where you peel off left or right to go to your respective block. The same bit where it’s a bottle neck and chaos at the best of times due to the khasi’s, bars and around 3000 people squeezed into a space not much bigger than the mole on Michael Beales boat race. Basically making it even more chaotic than usual. Thick as fuck.
