You don’t want to know anything about him.🤣 If I did, other than a half page in Wikipedia, there's fuck all to find out about him. That itself tells me something. Not only have we never heard of him. None of us, other than Shania, has heard of any of the clubs he's managed. None of them. Actually, I've been to see Aalborg play when I went Groundhopping in Denmark: I also saw Aarhus and Vilje as well if you are interested.... I've also heard of the club he managed until tonight. He's taken an unfancied team to a cup final, 3rd place visit and European Football and has passed through the doors of Ajax. That's enough for me to say 'hang on, he might just have something'. Warnock is SEVENTY-FIVE years old and would have been an incredibly short term solution. This guy, who is as famous as Arsne Wenger was when he began managing Arsenal as an interesting aside, represents the future and God knows its time to drag this club out of the past...

I just saw that his assistant Xavi Calm is rumored to be joining him. Like Cifuentes he has coached in England before. Marti Cifuntes Millwall and Xavi Calm at Birmingham U-23.

QPR CEO Lee Hoos said:
“We are delighted to bring Martí in and I would firstly like to thank Hammarby for being fantastic to deal with throughout the process.
“Martí is an exciting appointment and we look forward to seeing the impact he can have.
“Having a succession plan in place is a necessary part of football, irrespective of how the team are performing.
“Martí is someone we have been aware of so we are really pleased to have been able to secure his services.”

Warnock is a brilliant motivator. But who knows, Marti might get Chair and Willock doing tippy tappy and complete the job Beale was meant to.

Read an interview with him, and I am impressed with what he has to say. Gone on the road to learn different styles of football, and is eager to learn. Done pretty well with the teams he's been in charge of, but this is a step up for him. Maybe end of season wouldd have been better than having to get a tune out of this rabble in the situation we are in, but time will tell. Good luck to the fella.

My only immediate concern is how inspirational is he? Warnock would have talked up our players straight away, that’s his style and players respond to him. We haven’t got time for our lot to wait and see if they like working with Cifuentes. We need the points on Saturday.

I'm excited by it tbh. Gutted to be missing Rotherham away now (never ever thought I would say that lol) - really looking forward to the Bristol City game. Will be nice to have some excitement over the pre-game beers rather than gallows humour joking about how many we will get beaten by.

Guys, more importantly I think we should know the correct pronunciation of his name: The name "Martí" is of Catalan origin and is usually pronounced in a way that's distinct from the Spanish or English pronunciation of similar names. In the Catalan pronunciation, the accent on the "í" indicates that the stress is on the second syllable. The "r" is rolled or flapped, which is typical in Catalan and Spanish. Here's a rough guide to its pronunciation: - Mar: The "Mar" part is pronounced somewhat like the English word "mar," but with a rolled or flapped "r." - tí: The "tí" part is pronounced like "tee," with emphasis, because of the accent mark. So, it would be something like "Mar-TEE," with stress on the "TEE," and a rolled or flapped "r." Please note that pronunciation can vary by region and individual preference. =============== Now go do your homework! Don't you think it would be better to explain how to pronounce Cifuentes?!
He is still trying to work that out. Until then, we will go with Acton’s hashtag…..

I hope there is something in his contract to protect our investment if he turns out to be great and other clubs come sniffing around.

I hope there is something in his contract to protect our investment if he turns out to be great and other clubs come sniffing around. There'll be a buy out clause but it's not worth the paper it's written on to be honest as all he'd need to do is resign and take the job a month or 2 later. Yes, we'd get some form of compensation but it wouldn't be life changing. There have been few QPR managers in history who werent sacked or left for what they thought were better offers. He'll most likely be the same. If he's successful he won't be here in 18 months and that is something we need to understand right from the start.

Our board is actually a joke.
They are completely incompetent and to take this type of risk with our club when we are in this position is pretty much gross misconduct.
They are basically rolling the dice that they have unearthed a gem and it could go either way.
Eustace, Warnock, Rowett, Wilder, Jones and Beale all available on free. Know this league and have history of getting results.
Our team isn’t the worst and all we needed was manager with a bit of strategical nous and gravitas that the players recognise and could get behind.
I really hope this bloke gets it right but why take such a huge unnecessary risk.
I actually thought it was a joke when I saw it announced.

Eustace - Sacked from Birmingham Warnock - Sacked a few times Wilder - Sacked a couple of times Jones - Sacked by Southampton Beale - Sacked by Glasgow Rangers. Yes they know the league but they're not guaranteed to be a success and could backfire. Same as our new man. Far from being labelled a joke the club are enjoying a rare moment in the last 15-18 years where they should be applauded for thinking for taking a leftfield decision and a punt on the future rather than getting back on the Merry-Go-Round of appointing managers who have been around more times than Katie Price. It's the way this club is meant to be run.

I don't agree Maids. Anyone the club appointed at this stage would be a risk. No guarantees, even with Colin.
What I see this as is finally proper joined-up thinking. Because even if we do end up getting relegated, we need a progressive, intelligent football manager at the helm, who can guide us back up and effect the rebuild this squad so desperately needs, and not someone who will be off again if it doesn't work out, and certainly not a football neanderthal like Ainsworth. Long term thinking, at last. Cifuentes is what Beale was supposed to be, but a class above, with genuine hands-on experience of managing.

Very good read that and has got me excited. He speaks very good English too. I hope the players switch on and respond now because he could be a great addition to Queens Park Rangers.

Whether we like it or not players do subscribe to ideas that over complicate football and he'll speak their language: I'm not suggesting, by the way, that Ainsworth wasn't a dinosaur, he was and there is a big difference between re-inventing the wheel and reinventing Charles Hughes' POMO, a big difference. Beale was successful because he came armed with modern thoughts and jargon and Cifuentes seems a step in the same direction.
