How does it feel this morning Shania? You’ve got your man😂 Sorry, I haven't seen this. Very happy, but was kind of hoping Warnock was a part of a packet.

This is the right kind of appointment that we should have made years ago and the only concern I have is how long will it take him to get this group of players actualling playing Rotherham is a must win game and a run of results will be needed. Would have taken Warnock till end of the season with this guy coming in next Summer. He is here now so will wish him all the luck in the world.

one thing that is a bit interesting is the allsvenskan season ends soon and the contracts run from december to december. there will be a fair few decent free agents avaliable and i'd be very surprised if we didn't pick up any of them

Finishing it on "patience patience patience" makes me wonder if he actually knows any QPR fans 🤣

They would have to fulfill the criteria required to get work permits.

Speaking of work permits, if Cifuentes is already taking training he would have a work permit already wouldn't he? Weirdly proactive by the club, that would've taken a bit of time so they must've been working that all out prior to the Matrade deal and, ultimately, Ainsworth's sacking surely?

Excellent take on where we are. It is a brave decision to appoint Marti, but the right one IMO. We're going from stone age to space age in one go, and I'm not sure we currently have the players to make this work. But I think we will have to stick with this, even with some dreadful bumps along the way.

I'm guessing that the board have told Marti that funds will be available for the January transfer window. It's hard to imagine he'd take this on with the squad in the state that it is, without the promise of being able to freshen it up fairly soon.

Used to coach at Millwall, as such possibly had pre-settled status. Not 100% sure how the rules work, but I think ex-residents who had their ducks in a row could have applied for this status that basically allows them the right to return in the future.

Given we spoke to him before we employed Lemmy I would have thought this was in hand.

All sounds very promising!
My only worry is 1) This bunch of players have form for not performing for managers and 2) Has he genuinely got the tools to work with with this squad. Definitely gonna be interesting to see how he manages our piss poor striking department.

It's a grey area as they can say he was socialising rather than working.

He would have had to have been in the UK for 5 years and applied then. He spent 4 months in London.

Definitely gonna be interesting to see how he manages our piss poor striking department. Absolutely Jimmy. I've been thinking how our best performances under Beale didn't feature a recognised striker (i.e. Dykes). For example, Bristol City away, we started in a 4-3-3 (Marti's preferred formation I think) with Chair at the tip of attack, Willock and Roberts behind him.
Willock Chair Roberts
Johansen Field Iregbunum
Paal Clarke-Salter Balogun Laird
Of course, we had better players available then; for example, even though he turned out to be a waste of space, when he was on his game, Roberts was bloody good at Championship level. We also had Laird at RB Balogun CB and Iregbunum and Johansen in midfield. So how could Marti replicate that now? Well, looking at the squad we have now, it's interesting that in arguably our best game under Ainsworth, away to Middlesbrough, we went 3-4-3
Chair Armstrong Dozzell
Paal Colback Field Smyth
Fox Cook Kakay
We know that Marti likes a 4-3-3, and we now have Cannon to come in for Kakay, and we have two talented players that have barely been used by Ainsworth in Richards and Willock. So I'm confident they will feature more. Yes, I get that Richards has barely played and Willock has been restricted to ridiculously short late sub cameos, but I think the potential is there. Of course for Rotherham this is probably to soon to try to integrate them both, certainly not Richards. However, Dozzell looked great in that advanced role. So how about:
Willock Chair Dozzell
Colback Field Smyth
Paal Clarke-Salter Cook Cannon

He has said that he's pragmatic about theories and resources so we cant expect 4-3-3 regardless of whether or not it's his preferred way.

If he can bring in a Striker or 2 and a MF play maker I would be confident in him keeping us up.
I honestly don’t believe the players let Critchley and Ainsworth down as much as fans like to make out.
Initially Critchley was ridiculed but I felt he had them trying during games, he was unlucky with injuries and tougher fixtures.
Ainsworth was just mostly clueless in setting up a team other than parking the bus.

Ainsworth completely fucked up both Armstrong and Kolli football development this season.

Okay, seeing as I got a few things wrong regarding available players, how about:
Willock Dykes Chair
Paal Field Smyth
Clarke-Salter Cook* Kakay Cannon
*I think Cook should be back from injury by now.

Nots rue Smyth works in that system needing to be more central. That said, without Dozzell or Colback not sure what other options we have, possibly give Dixon-Bonner a go - he seemed OK in his cameo on Saturday?

Looking ahead, if Marti can't keep us up, was the damage already done or is it gonna be Marti Out posts by May? For me, regardless what happens, we should keep him and let him rebuild in League 1.

Definitely keep him. I see this as the best managerial appointment we've made in a very long time. Of course time will tell, but he has the pedigree.

You'll get some wanting him out if he takes us down but I'm optimistic that most will attribute that relegation to Ainsworth and give him the time he needs to undo everything the latter did.
