Pathetic!! The fella got booked on 17 mins. I said to my son that’s blinding. Get Sinclair running at him now pissing him off and watch the big oaf get himself a red. Nope. One challenge the ref bottled but apart from that not a squeak. We didn’t challenge or run at him once. I think it’s a mix of confidence, lack of intelligence but for me it’s quite simple. They’re just not that good. Overated Prima dona's whose stats lead you to believe they are better than they are. Armstrong looked a player first 25 to 30 minutes then we went back to slow turgid rubbish and midfield should be ripped up end of the season and replaced with pace and energy. For a young guy its a mystery he runs out of energy. At first I thought he would get up to speed as he got more experienced but its not happening. Is he too bulked up? Imagine Marti will want to start Frey and demote Armstrong to impact sub when defenders are tired. Haven't given up on the lad - eg he has cut out the stupid off-sides. And at least there is something to work on there, unlike with some players who have come through from the youth teams.

I’d rather he leaves out Dykes. He can come on second half and it might wake his ideas up - one reasonable game doesn’t buy you five shit ones. Michael said that Armstrong was cooking for himself and wasn’t eating right. This does seem to be the case although they’ve had plenty of time now to address nutrition. He may just not be natural athlete. That sorts the good from the great.

All that muscle needs a lot of oxygen as well, so overall it might be as simple as calming down a bit and pacing himself. Being that pumped up, no wonder composure goes out the window when it comes to decision making in and around the goal. He reminds me of Frank Bruno a bit. Built like a brick privy but prone to fading away in the latter stages.

He said he's a slow learner but when he does learn he's made sure he's got it right. Way I see it he's now got the size of Richards as he's no longer even in match day squads. He's also learning about Dykes. Firstly in changing his position; secondly in subbing him off on Saturday due to basically being completely ineffective. I suspect the next step will be to demote him to the bench in place of Frey. In summary, I'd rather see these gradual incremental steps to forming his team in his own image.

When he ran the ball out of play he booted the hoarding. Lots of negative energy being generated.
