Got to say this is a difficult game. Not got a great record there and suspensions kicking in. I think we're gonna lose this one unfortunately Please prove me wrong Rangers!!

It's getting harder to see a way around this team's dreadfulness.
Begovic Cannon Cook JCS Paal EDB Colback Chair Smyth (in that order, Chair the front of a diamond, full backs pushing up and EDB and Smyth tucking in without the ball) Armstrong Frey.
I don't care if Frey is unfit. He starts. Leave Donkey at home.

Just on Blackburn, apparently Palace are about to buy a young midfielder they developed for over £18m! Relegation rival to us. But if that deal comes through before deadline day that will surely free up some spend. Fans often say "why can other clubs get round FFP?" I guess a lot of it is doing deals like this. Or for eg signing Jack Rudioni rather than Andre Dozzell...

Goes against the grain to predict a loss, but think we’ll get shafted.
No, sod it, I’m going for the win! Frey to score on his debut, having come on for Dykes in the 63rd minute.

Would be too risky to start unfit Frey. Let him train for two weeks and play some minutes with U21 first.

Bench Chair and hope for the same reaction we got v Preston. Be solid and try to nick a goal.

= literally no creativity final third
Without his assists (not to mention the odd goal or two) we'd be bent over and gaping, like now but even more so.
I'm afraid we have to do more than hope to nick a goal. It aint like they're so fucking brilliant, know what I mean?

Assuming Dixon-Bonner comes in for Field, big, big game for him. Have been very frustrated with Field this season but we are incredibly short of a) options b) fight.
EDB looks quite tidy on the ball. Test for him is whether he can do the ugly stuff - without conceding endless moronic free kicks like we did against Huddersfield - while also moving the ball forward.

EDB was absolutely woeful when he came on last Sunday.
First 5 passes he gave 4 to the opposition and over hit the other.
In his defence, he has looked good in other games, so I definitely don’t want to hit him too much with the shitty stick, but he needs to really up his game because he was fucking piss poor last week.

everyone has bad games but as you said, he's been pretty good in other games. could simply be a case of him trying too hard as he's still only just broke into the side and after playing well for so many games he may have been overconfident and trying to show the manager how good he can be to his own detriment.

Absolutely.
I like the look of him. He’s leggy and gets about.
Maybe as you said it’s a case of trying too hard but either way time to knuckle down because we can’t afford to be carrying any passengers.

There is a player in Dixon Bonner and I would put him in centre nidfield for the next 6 game. Pace, energy and may get a bit of confidence by playing there. Our build up play is far too slow and predictable so would build the midfield around for next season regardless of the division we are in.

Looking at this thread now, posts of 24 hours ago look like pre-history. I was banging on about EDB but so many different options now. Real selection headache for Marti as no doubt he will be itching to put in all the new players but he has to balance that with fitness issues and also not decimating morale of existing players. Will he bed the new blokes in gradually (usual manager tactic) or just fling them all in (typical fan instinct)?

They’ll probably all be on the bench - even Frey, because I wouldn’t bet against Dykes starting☹️ Will be interesting who starts, who comes on at 60 mins.

Yes although with Field out that would free up a space for Hodge (if he was on the bench for Wolves last night he must be fit) and if Cannon is out Haydon could possibly slot in there (apparently he has played there).

It’ll be Hayden for Field, straight swap if he’s still got the legs. Prefer Kakay to Drewe.
