And I think the second from group C plays the first from group A (Germany?)

Remember an advert years ago when Paddy Power were willing to take a bet on Oscar Pistorius being found guilty of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.... Fun company

Makes a mockery of the group stages, more so if they qualify for the last 16 in third place.

That was quite a going over for Scotland.
Got the tournament off to a bang which hopefully continues.
See Dykes is still travelling with Scotland squad even though not in it so injury possibly not that bad.

In a way it's lucky Dykes is injured, if it means he is not implicated in the humliation. We were of course naively hoping that if he scored for Scotland in the tournament, it would raise his value and attract transfer bids. But perhaps the opposite is now true, for if he had played last night, his limited abilities would have been more exposed.

I suspect though Dykes would have been more help tracking back than Adams was last night. He was invisible and the obvious hook when they went down to 10 men. But had he played, it would have been like the first half of the season for him at QPR - totally isolated, running around and not receiving the ball. The manager and the team just had no answers or ideas on how to change things. I am not sure though just how good Germany were, or how ill prepared Scotland were. Their gameplan did not work, and frankly it could easily have been more than 5.

That Jamal Musiala looked a player last night for Germany. Played for England U17-21 and sold by Chelsea apparently for 150k few seasons back.

Agree, Clarke's tactics were abysmal, he set them up all wrong and they were completely overrun by Germany. So as you say, not easy to tell just how good Germany really are. It was a bit like the Ainsworth QPR team v Watford. Or Oxford, for that matter.

Absolute tactical abortion for sure, zero pressure on their mf which is where everything came from. Plus, having a face like a slapped arse never helped him. Re England. He wont do this, I guarantee, but you could have a brilliant attacking line up and just operate on a we'll score more basis. (Cole P @ 10, Foden out left at 11, Bellingham 8, Saka at 7, kane up top in a 3-2-4-1 with Trent inverted as one of the 2.) Job done.

How the hell has Ashley Williams scored a spot on the BBC panel. Average CB and Wales are not there. Must be cheap.

who's gonna win tonight...are we favourites? ..... with that kind of talent at his disposal it's Gareth's to fuck up. And he has previous. I look at that potential 7- 11 (as previously stated) and think this can be done. All he has to do is set them up, and aim for the throat. Unfortunately, his whole demeanour and mindset suggests caution. We're not good enough defensively, but I don't think there are better 10/ AMF / striker options in the tournament. Caution will win us nothing.

Caution will win us nothing. the cautious approach is what concerns me. the attacking options we have are world class so unleash them and give them free reign to play how we want. set up the defence and midfield to play cautious yes, but FFS let the attackers shoot whenever they want rather than trying to dribble the ball into the net.
