If this is our strength, attack, we have no chance. Don't think the keeper has had to make a save.

Looked like they had no plan, no leadership and no idea how to change anything.

Players going through motions making sure they don’t get injured pre tournament was my takeaway from the little bits I watched channel hoping

i agree in that these games never have much bearing in how their tournament pans out, and no different to pre-season games ITR

i agree in that these games never have much bearing in how their tournament pans out, and no different to pre-season games ITR Momentum is vital agree. was not impressed last night in the slightest, yes we dominated the ball and looked the more gifted side but that means fuck all if you don't look like winning and we barely worked the keeper. it felt like we were trying to dribble the ball into the net far too much rather than just having a shit. these are elite level footballers we're talking about here. hopefully it's just a blip and we were going into the game to try out new things and test the players without giving a crap about the result.

Must say Southgate doing a great job. Yep, he's the main weakness in the set up. Never really was a meritocratic appointment to begin with. Lack of an ability to switch set ups during the 90 will cost you. And slow, slow ball. This is the guy who has had everything handed to him on a fucking plate: the right players, FA covering his back etc. What do you get? 4-2-3-1 forever ffs and a once in a lifetime opportunity chucked away by fear.

Italy spring to mind. What you do need is a gaffer with a proper football brain.

Agreed, and as per usual the blame and responsibility is on the weak and spineless FA, not Southgate for simply accepting the job.

We won't make it out of the group.

He should have picked another defender
Mbappe will kill us
I also think Grealish should have gone because He can come off the bench when we are 1-0 down and change the game He did this many times in the last tournament

I’m sure that was not unnoticed by Southgate. Eze now got the role of coming off bench to change things and personally think he will do a better job. Grealish very good player but bit overhyped because of his jack the lad antics man on the street can relate too.

Then a front 4 of Saka, Eze, Kane and Foden or Palmer

I personally don’t think he’s close to starting unless there are injuries. Southgate very loyal so not sure who he would drop for him.

For me there is enough creativity in the team, especially if Bellingham is fit. But for some time the defence has looked very dodgy. No problem that Maguire was left out, he is not fit, and even a fit Maguire has an error in him most games. But then so does Dunk. We do not have a left back, and so we are reliant on Shaw recovering by the second stage, when he has not played any football. I do not read too much into the Iceland defeat, players were desperate to avoid injury, but it did show that we struggle to break teams down once behind, and that is where Eze may get a couple of cameos, because he offers something different (so long as he does not pick up a serious injury and scuppers any transfer). But my other takeaway from Iceland was that Pickford is head and shoulders above the rest in goal. I think he would more likely have stopped their goal. Don't like his big headedness / attitude etc. but sad state of affairs when his understudy cannot get a kick at Arsenal.
