Marti puts out Alfie and though not great, man did he cover some ground and force Luton to cover. Put him the second half and let him continue with the quickness. Sub him and Madden out for even faster players. Luton is now chasing the game. Can’t keep up, We score, we win. Marti is playing chess here, I think. And he has the pieces to play with too. Something we haven’t had in awhile. That's a good point regarding Lloyd, he might be better suited as an impact sub to run at tired defences. As you said, he did cover a lot of ground tonight. |

I think things are only going to get better, now we've got that donkey off our back I'm serious about this by the way, it wasn't just a witty quip/flippant comment (take your pick)... I think moving Dykes on was an essential piece in the transformation of the squad under Marti. Dykes may have been a great bloke, blah blah blah, but energetically (talking metaphysics and metaphorics here - although some might say bollocks) I think he was an albatross around Rangers' neck. Now he's gone, it feels like a shadow has lifted. |
