Ramsey will be going nowhere Shania. He's Technical Director anyway. Pearce would likely be an Assistant to Beale if he joined.

The role of a Technical Director can't really be judged by the amount of players coming through the youth set up and into the first team. Primarily because he probably has no input at all into scouting or recruitment of players.
Ramsey's role as I understand it pertains more to the coaching set-up, ensuring quality of coaching up and down the age groups etc. Really Just ensuring that what is being fed to the players in terms of guidance is of a decent standard and in line with with the expectations of the club as a whole.
I'd argue that this type of role plus a DoF is overkill for a club of our size. I think you could probably have 1 person cover both roles. But I'll admit, I am speaking as an outsider looking in, with no hands on experience in a football environment.
I'll also reiterate that from what I've heard, Ramsey is one of the best in the business at the Technical Director role.

Have to agree with Shania. Ramsey clearly not as good as we all thought. Our youth teams always bottom of the their respective leagues and haven't seen much youth players in our first team. Wondering why he is still working for us? Get rid.

8 years he's been here. in that time he would have had a big hand in the development of:
lumley, furlong, manning, kakay, chair and eze off the top of my head as ones you could count as youth products or near enough in the case of chair and manning. there's obviously a few more who've carved out careers in the lower leagues like oteh etc.
they've netted us a good sum of money over the years. results isn't that important at youth level, its more vital to get them game time and development.

Sure I read somewhere that it’s ten years before you really start seeing benefits of setting up Youth system so on that basis still on track and very soon needs to show dividends

Wonder if we fight and scout enough there? we also have to compete with every london club though, plus many of them have category A academies so they're able to poach players from lower graded local academies for nominal fees. we have to find diamonds in the rough but as we produce more talent it'll encourage youth players to choose us over the bigger clubs as they'll see we have a track record producing players and have more of a path to the first team.

"180 contracts are given, out of 1.5 million academy players" - Chris Ramsey #harshreality Just one quote of several interesting ones. Worth a listen.

"180 contracts are given, out of 1.5 million academy players" - Chris Ramsey #harshreality What I've been saying for ages. Still everyone here moans why Smyth and everyone else who has walked near the training ground was not given a proper chance.

i remember on WATRB there was a pro footballer who was playing in the national league, i don't know if he migrated to this forum but it'd be interesting to hear the standpoint of anyone here who was an academy player for a lengthy period and what its like. @west acton weren't you in our academy for a time?

Ramsey: another example of dead wood along with the Belk and dof who will need to be cut off if we really want progress.
Judge these people on their form. It sucks, hard.

It sucks, hard. tbh i think our youth academy has improved dramatically since ramsey came in. we've churned out a fair few players under his watch imo. i've only supported QPR since 2003 and prior to ramsey coming in the only players that i remember off the top of my head coming through our academy and making more than one or two appearences were ray jones, marcus bean and angelo balanta lol. i think there's one more but i can't remember who. infact the only other player from around that era who made it is lee brown who ended up becoming a league 1 regular for bristol rovers and portsmouth.

I am from the days of the centre of excellence, not sure there is much difference between the two other then branding of the name. On Ramsey he’s done decent job imo. Setting up a proper youth structure which produces fruit don’t happen overnight but I do think we have reached stage where in next 2/3 years need to start seeing players challenging for the first team.
