It's actually a really insightful interview. Hopefully some of you guys heard it. Yes, agreed. It was interesting and well worth a listen.

Is Ramsey or anyone under his stewardship responsible for scouting and selecting the players we sign then? News to me if so!

CR has had a hand in every one of their developments.

Saw him yesterday evening, having tea and cakes, Sitting by the window in a hotel in park lane. (The one before Hilton). Was dining with a couple of old girls. Still gormless looking as ever. Was most impressed with the variety of cakes though.

Outed him as well as another lump of useless dead wood. If the club really believed in Ramsey and the financial model they pretend to aspire to, there should have been more money aimed at junior recruitment. If on the hand there were sufficient incentives, then Ramsey's record is questionable.

So some of those named were in the system prior to his arrival

Scouting and player recruitment falls under the responsibility of the Director of Football typically mate.
A Technical Director is responsible for everything related to coaching I think. Ramsey will be responsible for ensuring our Coaches are all adhering to the right standards and methodology etc.

afaik he brought eze into the club after he was released by millwall. i understand your point though. my outlook on ramsey is he brought through some very talented players at spurs when he was there and has vast experience in youth coaching. he knows what to look for in young players and can spot minor yet crucial areas of the game that players need to improve on. in his interview with the W12 podcast he mentioned how he helped develop chair's ability to take on players and hold them off which is something that chair is surprisingly good at given his size. we've signed a lot of young players from other clubs that spent a decent part of their time with us under ramsey and tbh i think he's done a great job in developing what we already had.

Or am I missing the point here? Are we saying Ramsey's methods aren't getting the best out the players we've signed?
I'd say that's a hard definition to make. I don't think anyone who hasn't made it here since Ramsey has been in his current has gone on to develop significantly better elsewhere.
I'd say if there is a problem around the players coming through it would fall more under recruitment rather than player development. And even there, I don't think we've been particularly bad given the financial constraints we've been operating under.
Biggest problem we have is the fact other teams at our level are far more inclined towards financial risk than we are. Tough to get out of a division where many of your rivals have significantly more money to chuck around.

Tough to get out of a division where many of your rivals have significantly more money to chuck around. ramsey alluded to some of our academy prospects being picked up by bigger clubs and due to FA rules we can only get up to 250k for them so its probably still too early to see if any of them end up making it at bigger clubs. even so i think it'd be a tad unfair to judge ramsey on losing a 14yo wonderkid to chelsea as negotiations like that are out of his hands. he did say though that academy prospects can make a big mistake by leaving our small pond as a big fish and joining a big lake alongside other talented players. if my son was a great youth player then personally i'd want him to stay with us as i'd feel like he has much more of a chance with us were he'd receive much more attention than going to a bigger club were he could be overlooked. as our academy churns out players into our first team that'll be a message to all youth players that there is a pathway into the first team. we don't have money to splash out cash on ready made replacements but what we do have is the time to develop them and allow them to grow into a pro.

Where does the blame for that performance from Willock and the rest of the team in that first half against Burnley lie then? I would think that the selection of Hall as interim coach and spokesman suggests a real dearth of talent amongst the set-up assembled by Ferdinand over the years. Ramsey when viewed amongst the inside training videos with either Beale or Critchley appears to have zero input and I would ask what is his brief with the first team? I'm pretty sure Ramsey wants nothing to do with Caretaker Manager responsibilities or probably anything that's puts him in the public eye after the dogs abuse he got towards the end of his stint as Manager. Can't blame him either to be honest. He's good at what he does. He should stay behind the scenes.

yeah me too. It all stems from the THFC reputation shite that Uncle bought into via Les. Absolutely nothing to do with hard, form book solidity. The Les appointment - as I said at the time - was in itself one of the most baffling decisions the board made.

Surely Ramsey is the link between first team and academy so why wouldnt he be there for first team training ?
Replicate first team methodology for the transition up the ranks

Surely Ramsey is the link between first team and academy so why wouldnt he be there for first team training ? Replicate first team methodology for the transition up the ranks exactly. i don't get the ramsey hate, personally i'm very glad to have him here and feel he's very good at his job. we're never gunna be a top club, end of. even before my time at our best we were a club that punched above its weight and had a reputation for being a bit of a feeder club to bigger teams. fact of the matter is since ramsey has come in we've improved on and off the pitch. i discount our moneybag days as that whole era was a joke and for me personally it was the worst period supporting us. i'd much rather watch the likes of eze and chair being developed with us than the period of bringing in mercenaries like bosingwa. it is what it is. hoos always says we're one of the tightest clubs in the division and doing what we do - that is challenging for the playoffs on our budget - is only a positive for me. i enjoy watching players develop and i feel a lot more of a connection to someone we've grown than a hasbeen.

and to be honest the way he was treated after he was manager im actually surprised he remained with us
club better place with him involved i would have given him the reigns for the game against Burnley if truth be known just to let him know as a club we havent forgot about him

2m fee apparently, and probably at least a half mil a season wages. Bonne rivals Conor Washington in terms of the worst bit of business we've done since our FFP fine. Yet those responsible are still there ripping the arsehole out of the with his mate Ramsay.

Agreed on Les though, at some stage he needs to be held accountable for consistently bad 1st team recruitment. Honestly, I reckon our success rate (and I'd gauge success as a combination between a solid return in terms of performances, followed by a transfer fee at least equal to what we paid), is less than 50% when it comes to signings made for the 1st team.

Nothing to do with signings but what does he bring to the table? How many players that he has overseen through our youth system develop into first team players? Ramsay was sacked yet has somehow managed to engineer himself a nice touch alongside his hoppo Ferdinand.

We'd have only had to pay up his contract otherwise. Been back and forward a lot on Ramsey with a lot of people. I understand that it's quite hard to quantify what he brings to the table. What I will say is he is generally regarded as one of the best in the business when it comes to methodology with regards to training etc. Prior to us he was with Spurs and before that England.

Everyone else at the club has some kind of quantifiable form, good or bad (manager, players, dof, board etc etc).
With Ramsey it's very hard to pin any form on him of any description, hence the diversity of opinion.
All I know is he came here during our THFC wankfest era, which I remain highly suspicious of.
I'd love to know what he's done since, but there is very little to go on.
