It's all well and good saying individual choice should be the parameter for gambling but not everyone is strong willed and that should not be a reason for tossing them to the wolves because they aren't as strong willed as you. Empathy, Tarbs, Empathy. Here goes Esox with his straw man arguments again. No one has said people with gambling issues should be "tossed to the wolves" and no one has said they shouldn't be shown "empathy". Conflating that with QPR having a partnership with a betting company is a very different scenario. It's not a binary situation, as earlier posts in this thread have explained.

Gambling is an illness like drugs or alcohol and can affect peoples lives in a very negative way if you lose more than you can afford. Seen many people put in a bad state because of it, In saying all of that I am not sure why it should be a problem the club being sponsored by a punting firm.

If alcoholism, drug addiction or gambling addiction hasn't touched your life then you are a blesséd person. Not everyone is so lucky.

Alcolism ,drug addiction and mental illness has touched my life , but fuckin hell ,to one extent or another ,we all carry our own cross . No one told some soppy cunt he shouldnt have borrowed 600k for a nice gaf in Ealing ! But he did ,cant afford the repayments and now hes homeless ! What do we do ? Never let a bank sponsor QPR ? Bought a motor you cant afford ? Had to give it back ? Dont let Audi sponsor Rangers ! BOLLOCKS When i was younger going to Rangers was a way i could escape all the shit that was going on around me ! I dont need anyone ,to take the moral high ground , let alone QPR ! I like a bet as much as the next man ,dont blame QPR if the next man has a gambling addiction I like a drink ,as much as the next man ,dont blame QPR if the next man is an alcoholic Qpr sells pies , what if the next man is morbidly obese ? FFS ,we need to move much further away from this nanny state ..

Actually I dont think throw to wolves or save them,I have no real opinion either way as does not impact me. Selfish view indeed. Life is tough enough to keep your own safe warm happy to worry about others. And yes I have a sis who has recently fallen off the wagon after 10 years clean and sober. But I can care but preach dont work because only she can sort her head out.

Yes it has touched my life as I'm sure it has for most of us, but that makes no difference - you’re still conflating two different issues. For once you’re being critical of the club's current regime though, which at least makes a change for you.

Am amazed we're getting money from a shirt sponsor, tbh. I'd expect the board to pay 'The Hammersmith and Fulham Black, Lesbian, Disabled, Woman's Puppet Workshop' to be on the shirt....

Was on the radio talking about his gambling addiction that came about by being in a changing room, while on loan, that had a massive gambling culture. Did spend time with us and the amount of money players on around that time you could imagine lots of relaxed attitudes to losing large sums here and there. Off on a tangent but related. Couldn't help but feel worried about the effect gambling has on some last night when you had two teams sponsored by online betting companies and advertisement for Sky Bet all around the ground. When people understand the damage gambling does it is infuriating that we allow such a thing to happen in football.

We’ll have to get rid of Barbet soon if this clampdown continues much longer.

Who are the unofficial betting partners?

Getting negative reaction to this news Why is it getting negative? Betting on sports is common practice now, so to partner up and make money out of a company makes sense to me. Even in the article it's saying about another company that helps with people that take betting too far and to offer help.

Could be worse. We could have been sold to a collection of backward plutocrats living in the fifth century who would eagerly foist upon us every multi millionaire foreign player imaginable. RIP NUFC.
