Is he the real deal or not
I do really like the look of him and was big backer, then he seemed to get big head and make mistakes, but yesterday he was decent
Kicking is as bad as Rob Green but he pulls off saves
Does he need another loan next year or do we say gloves are yours

Gloves are his imo. But I'd try and get a good experienced keeper in as backup to help coach him. Get rid of Ingram.

I think we overlook how young he is. Quite unusual to be playing at his age at this level and for a breakout season he’s done well. Doesn’t help having some poor players in front of him but joe has all the attributes to be a decent keeper. Vocal and imposing he will only get better with age

Good young lad. Two great saves last night. Including the triple one. He's raw and makes the odd howler, but hopefully he'll settle down.

Good shot stopper, woeful distribution. All in all am happy with him tbh, think for where we are as a club, he is a decent keeper who will only get better.

A good young keeper who will get better with more games. As others have said his distribution isn't too great but that can massively improve with coaching. Expect to see him here for a few years.

A young keeper who has done well and had to learn on the job. Still a lot to work on but made up for him last night

Done well but boy is his kicking shyte. Still of the opinion that we need to let go of Ingram in the summer and sign an experience keeper. Then eith make lumley no2 or have the new signing mentor him.
Good keeper in him but he still has aways to go.

Yeah I think it can only be good for him under the tutelage of a more experienced keeper. Someone good enough to deputise if Lumley gets injured.

Perfectly good keeper. Too many critics too critical of him. The defence in front of him makes mistakes, and he is then exposed. Plus he will get better, anyway.

Very young keeper who has done well and due to our number 2 not being great he has no real competition at the moment. He is no world better but has done well so far.

As many have said, he is very young for a first choice goalkeeper at this level. He is learning on the job and certainly deserves his place.
Is it just me that thinks his progress and confidence shot forward when Rangel was playing? That bloke's leadership skills and positional play are a huge miss and someone like Joe can benefit by playing with him. Also, yes, the best bet would be to find a senior old pro to sit on the bench and be his mentor.

100% agree Blue, Rangel has been a massive miss especially his ability to organise the back four and keeper.

I think he's a talented lad, for sure. But that's only half the battle with a keeper. You'd have to say at the moment he's a little bit too error prone. But if that can be coached out of him he could go on to be a very good keeper!
Edit: And yeah, gloves are his. He's good enough, and we have far bigger priorities in the transfer market with an already limited budget.

We need to try and keep him at all costs.

Surely if we have brought another keeper in he might be out the door. Can’t imagine Kelly was brought into be a sub and Lumley after being number one last year won’t fancy the bench
I rate Dieng from what I have seen so possibly Lumley is off.
Two keepers in on a free and potentially one who cost us nothing going out for some money. Good business???

Literally says in the article that we have Lumley, Kelly and Dieng, one of which will be going out on loan, so this move is so we arent left short. Loan will probably be Dieng.

Surely Kelly or this new keeper Barnes will not accept being 3rd choice?

still dont understand how we would be short if one of our 5 keepers went out on loan?
is 4 keepers not enough for a season in the championship?

I know they said that but perhaps they just softening us up before he’s sold.

Four keepers is what is required if you have an U23s side and require a sub on the bench.

Was my first thought too.
Assume we have a buyer for Lumley.
