I get it but what a shame. 66 was great and 96 even better in many ways, but we now have so many foreign players in the domestic game our national teams look sub-standard. At least the nation still gets revved up for the bi-annual chair throwing contests. Loved Euro 96 and was at the Scotland and Germany games which were on another level. 98 was a good tournament then it started to flatten out for me with Sven and Beckham then Capello and the like. Cannot even be bothered to see if they are playing now.

I took my boy to the nations league game against Croatia at Wembley last year and it was a nice afternoon out. Can’t deny though, not on a par with watching the Argentinian flag being burned by locals outside a bar on Koh Samui after watching England beat the cheating cunts in 2002.

Sacking Venables after 96 told me what the FA was. Disinterested since Keegan.

That is where I watched that from game too. Didn't see the flag burning but did concern my wife when she heard screaming from our room when we won. She was by the pool. ----- Sorry this was Ko Sumui. Haven't worked out your post with quote works.

I was at the end where the penalties were taken and said to my pal once Southgate started walking up that he would miss.

Everyone remembers Gazza missing the cross from Shearer but Anderton's open goal never gets a mention. Keeper on the floor and he hits the post in golden goal time. Great memories and 96 was without doubt the best year of my single life.

Always quiet with international break. No transfers or football to discuss and no movement on the stadium front.
Its even quiet on the mixed forum that I'm on too. I have noticed its quieter everywhere though, prob to do with less people seeing the games than before.

Yeah. It creates a big hole in our lives. There's a hole in my life Shadow in my heart Is tearing me apart Or maybe it's just something In my stars There's something missing from my life Cuts me open like a knife It leaves me vulnerable I have this disease I shake like an incurable God help me please Hole In My Life - The Police
