Well, Illias Cair certainly had an interesting break.. Gonna be an interesting few years for international players in the Africa conference. There are at least a handful of countries where the government's are at serious risk of being overthrown. There is an branch of ISIS in control of a large chunk of Mozambique and the continent as a whole hasn't really done much to deal with Covid. Not an ideal backdrop for World Cup qualification etc. |

I have no idea what I was doing Summer of 92 (I was 10 years old) but I have close to zero recollection of that tournament. Strange cos, 1990, 94 and 96 I remember like it was yesterday.

This was the “ Dhalin, Brolin….you have to say that’s magnificent” tournament. Yeah, the Swedes were good back then, which was the only one we lost. And it was only five games to win the tournament. We drew 0-0 England, lost to Sweden, and won against France to reach the semi against the Dutch. They had a brilliant team, but somehow we made it through on pens, and then Germany in the final 2-0. The Holland game was in a way the hardest of the lot, but Schmeichel senior was amazing in that tournament. Wouldn´t have won without him. |

Maybe my brain has moved that tournament into the recycle bin cos England and Scotland were both so poor.

Probably sniffing glue Not saying I was sniffing glue, but I was there or thereabouts  Summer of '92, I was 18 and at the time of the Euro-semifinals, I was visiting some friends in Southern Jutland for a small festival in the weekend and was still there on the Monday. It was probably not the best decision, but we were most likely stoned and went by car to fetch some cigarettes, beer, wine and booze, south of the border in Germany (half price or less due to taxes), which meant we had to listen to start of the match against the Dutch on the car radio, and I remember celebrating the first goal in the car on the E45. Well we came back allright only to find out the Dutch had equalised, but shortly after we turned on the TV Larsen scored again for Denmark, and we ended up watching the rest of the match and the ensuing pens with no nails in an apartment in Haderslev. Amazing to think I even got laid that night, as I think I could hardly stand on my feet, IIRC  The final I watched at the Roskilde festival ... which was nice ... even though Nirvana and Pear Jam played there. They were both really goddamn awful. |
