On the one hand we shouldn´t expect too much from a team that´s cost more or less fuck all to assemble, and are doing way better than most expected, so we should all get behind them, and not be too critical. On the other hand it seems like a little bit of focus and attention to basic defending principles isn´t too much to expect from professional players and staff, regardless of their cost, so pointing their mistakes out is clearly not unwarranted. I also think I am able to entertain both ideas without feeling terribly inconsistent either... nice

We need a defensive coach and full backs who don't spend 75% of the game on the wing.

We need a defensive coach and full backs who don't spend 75% of the game on the wing. I absolutely think our defence would improve significantly if we bring Wallace in and push Manning up to Left Midfield. Chair needs benching anyway, so we can just shift BOS to the right side. Would make for a far more balanced set up in my opinion!

Yep, now that we are in the top ten we should definitely start tinkering with how we play. only one club has conceded more goals then us and their bottom!!!!! Would suggest little bit of tinkering might be wise Because as last two games have shown with our defence, once we stop scoring three goals a game we’re dropping points

We have got as high up as fourth as we are and that is more than good enough for me. If we have to ship goals regularly to carry on watching us play the way we have this season I am all for it. I don't want to return to a 150 mile round trip to every game and watch us defend for our lives in an attempt to get a clean sheet and the goal scoring dries up. Most of the people I meet at games feel the same way; it would be nice if we could stop shipping so many goals but not at the expense of losing the way we play. If at any point it appears that we may get relegated this season I could change my mind but as it stands we have been in the top half all season and long may it continue. Fans don't go to games to drool at the defending.

Ffs it's like talking to a brick. No one wants the way we play to stop, literally no one has said that. But you can improve the defence and keep the same tempo going. The two things don't go hand in hand. You can still play the ball on the deck, get forward, cause problems, and score goals, all the while getting the basics of defending right, which we haven't done all season.

You are posting like it is something that the club, the manger and the players are unaware of. Why don't you get a ticket for the paddocks by the home dug out against 'boro and pass all your tactical wisdom and nous on to those who can do something with it?

I’m sure the players and management are aware so hopefully we see the labours of their efforts on the training ground to address the problem with a clean sheet
Is a clean sheet after three months or rearguard defensive effort too much to expect? Or does that make a few of us anti football as your alluding too
All that is being said, and your a loan voice on the other fence, is can we be a better side if we tightened up at the back and if answer is yes what can we do to achieve this. What’s wrong with that?!! Why can’t we play nice football and be defensively sound? Others manage it
Is point of the game not to be as good as you can be?

I am not sure esox is a lone voice Westie as I do feel similarly myself (although probably not as extreme - for instance I would actually like to watch a nil nil just to get this clean sheet fact out of the way) We are defending poorly and it can definitely be improved but I am sure that Warburton must be aware of it and working on it despite how he is painting it in public.
Let us be honest, if it wasn't for two ridiculous penalty decisions in the last week we would be second and probably not really caring about the clean sheets.

Could we defend better? Of course we could. But would we have even been talking about it if the refs had done their jobs in the last 2 games and we were 3 points better off than we are now? Bit of perspective is required. Things are going very well. Yes, lot's of things could be improved, but look where we've come from in the last few months. Literally zero outlay (in fact we've significantly reduced the wage bill and banked a few million quid), and the brand of football we are playing has been totally transformed. Dunno when we all got so impatient.

What’s wrong with that?!! Why can’t we play nice football and be defensively sound? Others manage it Is point of the game not to be as good as you can be? Perhaps it would clarify matters better, and ease the tension a little, sorry for being snippy, but I see it as this is season one in a total rebuild of the side in an effort to become a strong stable side that can compete with the best. The chosen approach seems to be get young valuable players in that we can improve and sell for a lot of money in a season or two (as much as it pains me as I would love for Manning, Eze, Chair, BOS etc. to stay for four or five seasons) and have the club on a self sustainable financial model. At the stat of this season this rebuild involved shipping out almost all of last seasons regular players and replacing them for just about wages only. We saw how MW missed out on a couple of central defenders and, albeit serendipitously, moving Manning back to left back. The flaws and weaknesses are there for all to see with the personnel we are using and MW has swapped things around, both personnel and formations, in an effort to shore up the defence and it isn't working. With Lee Hoos' avowed aversion to January transfers, with may not see this addressed but who knows? Maybe Masterson is available for selection after January and it proves to be a master stroke. Kefalis is getting good reviews but it is only Billericay and the Championship is a long way from that level so he may be starting out on his loan adventure before heading back to W12. Phillips is also out there but I think it is a season long loan for him. Purely speculation but I feel this season is the beginning of another 4 year plan type scenario by Amit and this seasons objective will have been to do what ever we can to avoid relegation and set us up ready for next season where we would be pushing for a top ten/ play off position and, if failing to get promoted, further strengthen the season after and all the while remaining on a good solid financial footing and debt free. Across the spectrum of QPR fan sites and FB groups there is a high expectation of at least reaching the play offs this season and this is pushing expectations beyond where I feel we will eventually settle. If we were to get promoted and the club stood strong in the face of fan opposition to spend almost nothing whilst in the EPL then that would be a huge boost to the clubs future plans wrt the new stadium etc. The downside would be that the current team would be destroyed in the EPL and the fans would turn on the club once more and we would lose a very good managerial set up. I would guarantee that Rangel/ Kane/ Leistner/ Hall/ Barbet and Manning aren't fucking up deliberately to piss the fans off and just the same I would guarantee that MW and his team aren't ignoring defensive coaching either. AFAIK all our defenders speak good English but it struck me the other night that our defence is made up of a Scot, an Irishman, a Frenchman, a German & a Spaniard I don't think it is better communication that is needed but a lot more games playing together as a defensive unit so they know each others game inside out. Eze, Chair, Manning and to a small extent Wells have all played together for a number of seasons and you can see that there is an understanding in each others play. If we can see this season out and be no lower than mid table I honestly think that we will be stronger next season.
