James. Samba was not as bad a bloke as was made out. I got to know him quite well and his big problem was he joined us while the Russian season had finished or were on a break. As for his wages they were never as high as people were led to believe

The fella's contract was heavily loaded with bonus as was his transfer fee which was 7.5 up front with a further 5 for the duration. Wages were 65k a week with big bonues throughout

But bosingwa got hump on not getting picked. Surely player stropping over not getting game was something to applaud not beat him with given the numbers of players we signed who were happy to sit on the side

I remember him coming on as sub at West Brom and by the end of the game myself, and others all around me all agreed we had a top notch player who was real quality; something he demonstrated in his last appearance against Newcastle at home where the Mags players spotted that the crowd didn't like him and were kicking lumps out of him. After another trip on him where he was flipped in the air, he caught the ball as he landed, placed in on the deck and pinged a 50 yard ball straight at the feet of a running Bobby Zamora. A much maligned player for us when it should be candleface getting the blame for wasting (yet another) top quality player.
