Before he was injured Cameron was our best midfielder - if we sign him he can play the defensive role allowing Scowen to be further forward as he was towards the end of last season.

Scowen looked a different player pushed further forward! Definitely. Was far more effective there. He said it was his preferred position too. More of a liability when played deeper.

Yes, it very much like 4-2-3-1 is the thinking. With Smyth the 1...... 😱 Ah, 4-2-3-1, arguably the easiest formation to defend against because it became so overused and easy to read. It was already redundant when JFH enforced it. You still need monster WBs to make this system work, we should know better than anyone.... The business we've done so far strikes me as questionable (as does the financial raison d'etre as discussed elsewhere). If we cut according to cloth and it doesn't work out, we will struggle and actually end up loosing more money. Warburton isn't a young manager and I wonder how adaptable he is. His critics always said he was a one trick pony. We shall see. People were critical of Villa's spending startegy but the reward is much higher these days than when we tried it and fucked it up. It is not financially sounder per se to economise, EPL rights money has absoluteley screwed that argument.

Gotta give the new boss some time to enforce his ideas and prove himself. I personally like what we've done in the window so far. Some very highly rated youngsters, as well as a couple that will be squad players and/or a roll of the dice. All we need to add now are some attacking options and a little bit more experience.

Thursday 25th July 2019 Geoff Cameron re-joins QPR on permanent basis GEOFF Cameron has re-joined QPR on a free transfer from Stoke City, signing a one-year deal with the option of a further year. Versatile Geoff made 19 appearances, scoring one goal, while on loan with the R’s last term. Now the American ace is back in W12 on a permanent basis, with Rangers incidentally set to kick off their new Sky Bet Championship campaign at Stoke a week on Saturday. “It’s great to be back,” Cameron told www.qpr.co.uk. “I really enjoyed my time here last year – it’s a family-orientated environment and this move is the best fit for myself and my family.
“The manager (Mark Warburton) wants to get the ball down and play good football. Hopefully myself and Angel [Rangel], who has also come back, can use our experience to help what is a young squad.
“I’m here to help the team in any way that I can – whether that’s leadership on the pitch or off it as well.
“For me, I’m excited for this role and I’m excited to be here. I just want to enjoy my football, like I did here last season.”He continued: “The fans have been great with me. I’ve seen a few Tweets – one guy said that if I signed permanently then he’d get a tattoo of me on his leg!
“The fans have been super supportive, and I’ve had lots of nice messages since the end of last season.
“I’m really happy to be back.”Rangers boss Mark Warburton is looking forward to having Cameron’s nous around the squad once more, adding: “Geoff is someone who knows the club.
“He brings experience to the group and he also brings Premier League quality.
“He is well-known by both the fans and the players, and his physicality is an asset as well.
“We’re delighted to welcome Geoff back to QPR.”Issued by Queens Park Rangers Football Club

welcome home geoff. makes the signing of bobby ball completely pointless now. Why? He was always gonna be backup. Geoffrey will be a starter.

Just for this season I think? Edit: I was wrong. He is here for one more season according to Transfermarkt.

Like Cameron and his experience will be invaluable again next year Could it be one season too many for him though? Signs this season that his legs are going unfortunately. Good player.
