Warburton is bang on with this too! As fans we are often too quick to judge when players are subbed or not selected. We don't know what the coaching and medical staff know about a players fitness. If the data was telling him that Manning wasn't fit enough to play a significant part of the game and that BOS was only fit enough for 60 to 70 minutes, then he did absolutely the right thing with his selection and substitutions. We'd all be complaining more if he left BOS out there to try and get his hat-trick and he pulled a hamstring!

I actually think he was right in his subs. Game was won and less chance of injury for youngsters. I was surprised Eze stayed on

Can’t agree with us being direct today Al quite the opposite. Kept it lovely all over the park. It isn't either / or though Wests, those days are over. Liverpool have plenty of skill on the park but they regularly use a longer out ball. They mix it up, thats 2020. Its how you use it on the ball and how you set up off it. Simple. Our problem has been the latter, to such an extent that confidence takes a hit. We all needed this. It also puts to the sword the theory that one of the contributors on here constantly re-iterates, ie that the players are basically car boot standard and that Warburton is a misunderstood genius. They're not and he isn't. They're probably a bit above average as a squad for this level. The problems we've seen have almost all been down to organisational issues.

Apparently Warburton called the fans ‘fucking cunts’ after the boos for subbing BOS..... Ollie behaviour, if these prima donnas can't cope they should get out of the fuckin kitchen. Take a leaf out of Wenger's book, dog's abuse for years and he rose above it. Its taken this genius months to figure out what he's paid to do (ie play fbs as fbs etc etc) and I still wouldnt put it past him not to fuck it all up again.

He needs to understand it was heat of the moment reaction of disappointment that's all. Fair enough explanation after the match. End of.

Don’t think he would have said that. He seems very calm and collected person who don’t get to high or too low and he speaks eloquently so cant imagine him calling fans cunts
Sounds like fans who don’t like him on twitter trying to make something up and get some traction with it

Bet you absolutely hated that result yesterday 😂😂 Don't worry, likelihood is we'll get beaten by Brentford and Leeds so you'll be alright.

If we ask ourselves what was different about our approach to this game compared with previous ones:
1. Flat back 4 in a 4-2-3-1. 2. Wallace in for Manning 3. Cameron in for Kane 4. Amos and Ball the two holding MF's. 5. Chair, Eze and BOS all starting 6. Wells starts with Hugill on the bench.
Will Warbs learn from this and use it as our default, as evidently it's our best formation and starting 11? Our season's watershed game if you like.
Or will he continue to tinker?

It was our best set up against a leaden footed Cardiff team. WBA, Leeds, Brentford, Fulham and a few others would have coped with us a lot better than they did. We may still have won playing the way we did, as it was superb to watch, but we probably wouldn't be pumping them by six.

Just to emphasise how good that performance was - Cardiff had lost 1 in 9 going into yesterday's game and that run included Leeds, Forest, Preston and Millwall.
Credit where it is due.

Pretty much every goal was superb and love the way we played with a swagger. Chair and BOS will come up against much better defences but with their pace and trickery, they’ll terrorise plenty of seasoned pros. Lumley shortcomings have been covered but that ball to BOS and what BOS did with it was sheer class. I’m not sure you’ll see a better route one goal this season, from any team.

Look back through the thread and you'll see I was made up, loved it. I thought he'd finally got it right. Although I did caution against inviting them on as soon as we started doing that. I think we could have outplayed em 10 vs 11 for the remaining 20, there was a nasty goal difference to put right and I felt we had another one in us, m'lud. I think Stan's recent post pretty much sums up my feelings. I've been watching a long time, I've seen em all come and go, and I do get frustrated when there are simple solutions available (like playing full backs) which just dont get picked up on. If he was doing the cunts thing in jest, then fair play - but that wasn't what I heard.
