It was the Willow Warbler who brought in Dykes. Let's not forget that.
He was decent, but no more than that. Comparing him to what went before isn't that instructive, because apart from Colin, we had a series of absolutely shite managers before and after Olly. and Olly was never going to progress in the way that's needed. And from what I saw, Warbs didn't have the real depth of thinking, along with attention to detail to every single part of the squad, that is the level you need to not just compete, but develop, these days. From what I've seen of Marti, he has it. He's next level compared to the Warbler.
